...in one day! i haven't had many chances to actually race someone since i got my G. only people i have raced were just my friends, there's a 04 stock civic coupe, an S-10, and ML500, basically nothing very challenging. coming home today after running some errands, i see an IS300 comin up quick. i stop at a stop sign, and slowly get going as normal when i hear the IS behind me peel out. i quickly go to manual mode and quickly matched and passed his speed as he came up on me. come up to the next stop and i stay there waiting for him, then we go. it was definitely modded somewhat, because he was sticking with me for a little bit, and i heard his aftermarket exhaust blarring. it wasn't enough to pass me, and i started pulling. the guy was nice tho, we waved and went out separate ways. racing and winning always puts u in a good mood. coming close to home, i stop at a light and a brand new SL500 pulls up to my side. the guy looks over a smirks at me, then starts rolling forward a little bit, he thought he was just gonna leave me in the dust. so i was ready for this one, light turned green and we were out. pretty much neck and neck for most of the run, but i started pulling at 40. this was the best i've ever shifted in manual mode, perfect. stopped at the next light and the guy didn't even look my way. poor baby paid 80k... ya they're nice cars, but it's mostly just name. moments like these make me feel even more proud about my G. happy driving folks!

LOL, not to be degrading but how hard is it to push paddles on an e-shift? :-P

 

Paddles? I think your gettign confused with an F1 shifter or SMG =) We have a gear shifter haha, get your facts straight j/kk

there's somewhat of a lag when shifting in the manual mode, when you push it, it doesn't immediately shift. i haven't got it exactly on key a lot, sorry for being excited about it...

and yes, my run with the SL wasn't very long, definitely less than a quarter because the next light turned red, couldn't race very far. only got up to around 60-70 b4 we had to start breaking. i didn't smoke him or anything, but i was starting to get ahead. believe it's bs if u want, fine by me. i just felt like sharing.

 

well the SL500s do weigh 1000 lbs more than the G with 300hp. so it can be believable

Why calling BS? It's a SL500 not SL55 AMG. Most road test report SL500 run from 0-60 in 6.1 sec and 1/4 mile in 14.5sec. Make sure which car you are talking about b4 calling other ppl BS. G35C should win over SL500 off the line, and if they've raced longer, the G35C will pull furthur away! (G35C runs from 0-100mph in less than 14.2 while SL500 with 14.8)

 

it isan auto g35 and the sl500 does not weight 4500lbs. it weighs in at about 4000, but it has more hp and tourque. it should be a close race, but his story just sounds fake.

 

it wil be another story once on the highway....

 

The G35C still has great advantage on HP/weigh ratio, the SL only has 20 more hp than the G. Mercedes website says it runs from 0-60 in 6.3 sec (R&T with 6.1sec), which is around RX-8's range, even the G35C AT should be able to beat it. (The SL comes in AT too) Most recent road & track shows a 0.6 sec difference in 0-100mph, and 0.2 sec difference in 0-60mph, which means the G will pull away after 60mph even furthur.

I still don't get which part of his story sounds BS, it says he was neck to neck until 40-50mph. And start pulling over after! That totally reflect the stats! (Not too much difference within 60mph, but start pulling from 60-100mph)
