Putting 225 tires on rear

The day before yesterday I bought my first Infiniti - 2006 G35 Coupe. I barely got home, as the tires were ultra high performance summer tires, and I live in Minnesota. So yesterday I went to Walmart and had installed four Goodyear Authority 225-50-17 and put the others in the barn for summer.

Please tell me it's OK to run the 225's on the rear wheels instead of the 235's, so I'll feel better the rest of the day.

It's perfectly okay and safe to do it.

I would have put 225/55-17 on the rear to maintain the factory stagger, which is what I run in the winter (I run 225/50-17 up front). Otherwise you could end up with a bit of strange behavior with the VDC system. It expects to see different wheel diameters front to rear.

I drove my car with 225/50/17 all round for almost 8,000 miles with no VDC issues or any other. The odometer will read 1mph more than you are actually going which is nothing to be concerned about. It will work fine, but don't rotate as the rim widths are wider by .5 inch in the back.

Never heard of these Authority tires, when I googled them they were all off-road tires. Got any pictures?

Oh Swivel, you never heard of them because you probably don't buy tires at "WallyWorld." Living in the frozen north he may not have a choice where he shops.... Apparently you do!

Yes. 225 is the width of the tire, 55/50 is the profile of the tire, and 17 is the diameter of the rim.
