Tire Pressure

I've had my brand new G35 coupe for about 3 weeks and my tire pressure light came on! I am going to be really mad if something is wrong with my tires. I haven't checked the pressure yet, because I am at work, but what should my gauge read? Dang I'm ticked, I better not have to pay for new tires.

Re: Tire Pressure

I dont know whats wrong with the tires. I have had the tire pressure problem since the day I bought the car. but after it was fixed...I have had several nails and screws taken out the rear tires and aptched up. In 9 months Ive had about 9 or 10 repairs dont to the rear tires only. This week someone slashed my rear tire and I paid 262 to purchase a new tire.

Tire pressure should read 36 on a tire gauge I think. Thats where I keep mines at anyway.

Re: Tire Pressure

If you have the 17 inch rims/tires, the cold tire pressure should be 30 psi.

If you have the 18 inch rims/tires, the cold tire pressure should be 35 psi.

Re: Tire Pressure

Dave is correct and I'll add that according to the service manual the TPM alert will come on at or below 28 psi. If you hear no audible warning, it is a TPM error. If you hear an audible warning, one or more of your tires is 28 or below.

Re: Tire Pressure

So, does anyone know how to CLEAR the warning? My light came on with NO audible warning, so Im assuming its an error. What I really want to know is how is the TPM recieving the data from the tire? I didn't see anything unusual about the valve stem cap. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Re: Tire Pressure

The TPS is part of the valve stem, not the cap. It sends a wireless signal to the computer.

I would take it to the dealer.

Re: Tire Pressure

One of the first things I do after taking delivery of a new
car is:

1. Check tire pressure (usually low by 2-3psi)
2. Charge battery on a 2A slow charger overnight.
3. Claybar & rewax using polymer wax. (usually the surface
feels rough due to car sitting outside for some duration).

Re: Tire Pressure

I had the same problem. Driving home from the dealer, the light started to come on. Turns out the PSI was 40 in all my tires. Lowering them to 35 has seemed to fix it. We'll see.
