Window Problem

I have been having a periodic problem with my drivers window not working. Sometimes it won't go down, sometimes it won't go up. I don't know if it is the switch or the motor? Today I opened my door to get in the car and the window went down about 3 inches and just stayed there - switch had no effect. I opened and closed the door a few times, tried the switch again, and it started working again?
Anyone have this problem? Is so, what was the fix.

Re: Window Problem

I had the same problem in my Volvo C70 and it ended up being a loose plug on the underside of the switch. Try pulling the door panel off and making sure the plug is on tight. It's worth a shot... saved me a trip to the dealer once.

Re: Window Problem

It's not the plug, it's a known problem with the motor.

Take it in to the dealer.

Re: Window Problem

Had the same problem last week. Called the dealer and they said to bring it in right away. I didn't even need to make an appointment because they said it was a safety issue. Repair took 1.5 hrs.

Very common problem with these cars.

Re: Window Problem

Same exact problem last week. It was the motor. However what pissed me off was that they didn't replace the Passenger side at the same time. They know these motors are bad so why do I have to wait for it break on a rainy day?

Re: Window Problem

so are they replacing with the exact same model hoping it doesn't fail within the warranty period or has it been redesigned?
