I'm sorry but I don't have the owners manual here, and I'm really struggling with this foot brake. I've never had one before its always been hand. We got hit with a pretty big snow storm here on the east coast and my driveway is covered in ice, and on an incline.

Therefore how do you release it? I tried pushing it down more, no luck.

Push it down and move it to the right.

Nevermind, it must be an off day for me. I never had the car started when I was trying to release the brake. My apologies, (I've got a case of the mondays) hahaha.

^ yea, it says <on off>. I just tried it; it is a very slight movement.

edit: push right, not move right

5AT Brake....? =0)

Funny thread, you push down to engage, you push down again to release....that R by your shifter doesn't mean RACE.

one time i had the parking brake set and when I released it, the shoes inside the rear rotors wouldn't come back - they got stuck to the rotor! After trying to break them free, the car finally started to move (after a loud snap). Taking off the rotor revealed a broken brake shoe (crumbled with some pieces stuck to the inner part of the rotor).
