shifting the 2005 g35 6mt

hi, im new to the fourms but i have a couple questions that i hope you guys can answer. I've had my g for over half a year now and i like it for the most part. The only thing is, i have to shift really slow from 1-2 gear otherwise the car lurches and it feels really bad... I can get it in smooth but its annoying that it takes so long to shift from 1-2. It isnt as bad for 2-3 or 3-4 but 1-2 is a killer especially if i need to go fast. Does anyone else have this problem?

I also have been having some clutch chatter/vibrations. The clutch feels like it is vibrating when i have it depressed. The weird thing is that it doesn't happen all the time, but it happens enough where it gets annoying. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

I really love this car...if only i could find out the answer to the two problems i've been having. Thanks

See my thread sir, you are not alone..... I think its just one of those things you will have to get used to... Mission Viejo Infiniti told me they dont know what the hell it is, probably a worn clutch or something (they have no idea what the hell it is.) I spent a buck twenty for diagnosis, so dont waste your time with the dealer if you were thinking of doing so imho....

I drive an 04 6mt and this tends to happen more so when its cold. I usually go 1st to 3rd while its still warming up. When its at operating temp its smooth as butter. I'll try draining and filling the gear oil to see if that'll help any.

If you're gunning it, and you need 2nd, the hard/lurching shift isn't much concern.

If you are using a 1st to 2nd shift as part of normal 'ho hum' driving, try skipping 2nd. The gears are so close and so short, I can't see using all of them in order for daily mundane driving!

I sometimes start in 2nd and shift to 3rd or 4th/5th, but mostly I start in 1st, shift to 3rd, then 5th. I really avoided much of the disgust for the tranny by just adopting this 1,3,5 pattern (of course shifting in 6th when higher cruising speeds require it).

But happiness in daily commuting comes from 1-3-5. When I want to have fun, I use all 6 the 6MT has to offer.

I have an '04 6spd as well. Yea, I think I agree that it's worse on cold.
I hear skipping gears isn't good although I don't see a reason why [here we go with this discussion again].

Ugh. Done properly, you can do it. Just like downshifting into whatever gear you want/need, provided you aren't over-revving (or under-revving on upshift).

Downshift and blip throttle to increase (match) revs. Upshift and stay off throttle to decrease (match) revs.

Rev matching goes both ways.
