5/16 Spacer help
I'm installing a Motordyne 5/16 spacer and I've got evrything back lined up with all the bolts hand tight. I set my torque wrench to 40 lbs. The first bolt #1 on the instructions gets almost all the way tight and snaps! I took everything back apart and naturally it snapped flush with the lower plenum. any idea's on how to get it out? Has anyone had problems with these bolts in the past? I double checked the torque wrench and it was set for 40 lbs. But I use in on my lug nuts. What should I use for a replacement bolt.

Your right Kennymo. I'm such a f***ing idiot! It was set to 40 foot pounds not inchs. I was able to get the bolt out with a pair of needle nose pliers. Now I'm just wondering if I can use one of the old bolts until I get a replacement.
40 ft/lb will crack your plenum for sure
the bolt size on these torque requirement is 8.5 ft/lb for that size bolt - but usually they get tighten more than that - i found out that the factory tighten them around 18 ft/lb = scary
but i guess that's the way they do it so they don't have to retighten the bolts one they leave the factory
you can go back and set your torque wrench to 10 ft/lb or 12 Newton/m which ever your type of wrench preference setting your have is easier to set - you can use the old bolt until new ones come but since you cracked something i would go and epoxy that crack with metal type and wait for the new bolts rather than doing this again and again - but i think that 5/16 is very low so the old factory bolts should fit with not issue only that if is NOT AS GOOD as the md longer bolts

i got a question. i know the 6 cents bolts on the plenum are longer (the ones you get when you buy a plenum spacer. ) but do the outside bolts need to be longer also? or will the stock ones work?
I'm supprised this hasn't happned before, even though MotorDyne provides high quality hardware and instructions. It's their lack of knowledge on torq settings where members get in trouble. Torq wrenches come with instructions, I keep the two close....
