Check Engine Light: 2005 Coupe
Check Engine Light: 2005 Coupe
Hi There. I have a pre-owned 05AT coupe and after 200 km the Engine light went off (today).
I'm taking it to Vic (Simone Performance) on Saturday to have it checked.
I know there could be a hundred reasons why the light is on, but was wondering if any of you with a 2005 coupe have had something like this happen and figured out what was wrong (and if it's common in this model year).
I checked the search results but found nothing with a definite answer.
TIA.

While I agree getting the code scanned is useful, I'd put money that it's a MAF or O2 sensor problem. Not a lot of money, but a dollar for sure!

+1 for Autozone giving free scans .. but beware of what they try to tell you to fix.
I had a code read at my local Autozone when I had my Mazda, and the salesman was all-out convinced that my O2 sensor had gone bad. He wanted me to order a new one on the spot that would've cost $200. I said no thank you, that I wanted to go home to check things over more closely myself without a salesman hovering over my shoulder. Well .. I went home and found a crack in my exhaust manifold, that was directly beside the O2 sensor. And the manifold had a full warranty on it -- got it replaced for free and voila, no more code!
Any decent auto parts store should be able to read that code for you at no cost. That $70 fee is pure BS.
