G35 IN GERMANY
G35 IN GERMANY
Hey Gang! Just wanted to let you know that there are at least two G35 Coupes in Germany that I know of. I live just north of Frankfurt and have an awesome commute every morning. Yes, I have 13 miles of unrestricted speed limits and 8 miles of snakey two-lane country roads to the house. Smoking down the "bahn" at 135MPH is a KICK in the pants! The Germans only have the 350Z right now, so the G35 turns heads big time. I am thinking about de-badging the thing like the locals do with their hot rods...
Yeah, there are LOTS of cars that are faster here, but who cares?! I am smiling all the way to work and can't wait for the drive back home! Now about that Stillen twin turbo kit.....

Taking the G down the "bahn" must be a priceless experience for any G owner. I too am envious!

Autobahn...(sniffles)
It's a beautiful thing.
Quick question...
How would you compare the "dmv" tests in Deutchland compared to the American method of letting anyone have a drivers test?
Is it true that you have to take a cpr class as a requirment?

Good question, I too have heard that you have to take a CPR test. A couple other interesting facts I have read about the bahn is that the actually have fewer accidents/fatalities despite the speed, credited to the more intense driver license instruction and testing, and that you can acutally get a ticket for going to slow and not moving over the the slow lane! Now thats what I would love here in SoCal, I can't tell you how many SUV's ignore... forget it. You guys know what I am talking about when it comes to the majority of SUV drivers.

Add me to the "envious" list.
Yes, my buddy in Germany tells me that getting and maintaining a driver's licence there is much tougher than here... and people really respect the left lane for passing/ fast cars only.
Although there are fewer accidents there, when there IS one, it's usually pretty bad.
He told me of one that looked like a car rear-ended someone in the fast lane... the wreckage was strewn for half a mile down the road.

Yo, MojoDr. I'll actually be in Germany later this month....around 14-September visiting my cousins in Dusseldorf. If time permits, we're also going to try to hit up Oktoberfest. But, my cousin tells me that it's about 600km away...and, if you wanna stick around, you need to make hotel reservations at least one month in advance.

Re: G35 IN GERMANY
Hi MojoDr, it's great to find somebody from Frankfurt on this forum and additionally having a G35! I live in Ffm myself and twice I saw a silver G pass by me. Was that yours?
I'll be getting my black/black in January (Canadian version with km tacho).
One question: did you adapt sth as far as lights are concerned (xenons w/o the cleaners, red turn signals) or did you get it registered as it was. I'm expecting some problems in this respect.

Re: G35 IN GERMANY
I guess I'll just try to cover several questions in one message. The G gets dusted here by several cars and I accept it with humility. The area that I live in has so many people with SO MUCH money that it would be impossible to keep up with Herman the German. The single coolest thing about the G here is that there just aren't any others on the road. As an American here working for Uncle Sugar, our drivers test isn't that tough - even though LOTS of folks don't pass. Further, we are not required to convert our cars. There are still lots of speed limits and the Germans hide cameras everywhere! You just get the ticket in the mail. My favorite time to hit the bahn is about 0500 in the summer when there is plenty of light and not much traffic. On a good day your palms sweat with the excitement of driving this fast and its all legal. When my wife gets back with the digital I'll try and post a speedo/tachometer picture in 6th gear maxxed out! I will tell you that insurance is very expensive. I have three cars and two bikes, all paid for, no tickets or accidents, and its $4K a year! And my winter car only has liability!! Sorry for the novel, but last thing, the coolest thing here is that I can go to a motorcycle dealer here and test-ride a bike!! I have ridden every bike I have lusted over!! The Ducati dealer gave me 20 Euro and said put some gas in it and be back in an hour......Love this place! MJ
