Yes it was a M and yes is top was down. The car in front of the m3 was about 1/8th of a mile in front of him. We both gunned at about the same time he was trying to cut me off, but couldn't make it and ended up behind me.

MotorTrend actually got a better time w/ the M3 vert than what C & D got. MT is the same mag that named the G35 car of the yr.

They got 13.63 s in the 1/4 mile w/ the M3 vert, that's way faster than the G35c manual.

 

I don't know what you guys are talking about....

I've raced four M3 so far and beat every single one of them.. I also raced the Z3 M series and beat that thing and that car is lighter than the M3.

I agree the driver has a lot to do with a win...that is why I didn't get happy after the first two M3 i beat but now that I have four under my belt and a Z3 M, I can say those cars get two much hype.

You have to realize that torque wins races not horsepower.

Sean both cars got more torque then the coupes =) But anyway i know you arent lying, thats what makes me pissed knowing that with good drivers these M3's bone stock are running 12.7's to 13.1's, i have the videos. And then M3's with pullies are running 12.43 to 12.6, i have the videos for those also, i still love em.

Stock, the E46 M3 coupe is much faster than the G35c, to the point where I don't even think it's a drivers' race. On avg, it's about 1 full second faster in the 1/4 mile, that's huge.

Even the E46 M3 convertible is still significantly faster, though at least it could be possible if the M3 driver can't drive.

Sorry, an M3 is a waste of money? Because u can always turbo a G and it will smoke an M3 for less money? If that's your reason, why not get a RSX and turbo it and it will smoke a G for less money? 100 times better to buy an E55? E55 costs more than the M3. Mind you, M3 and E55 are not in the same class. How can you even compare? New M5s will RAPE e55 on a track. yeah on a straight road the E55 will win but M5 outhandles E55. You can smoke any M3s? Congratulations.


PS: E46 is the name for all current 3 series INCLUDING M3s.

 

Dunno about you guys, but I ran another E46 m3 this past weekend. The first one I ran a few months ago I was stock and he would stedily pull from me. This one I ran, which was lowered, and a plate that said mpower, and some huge wheels. Nice car. But anyways, we ran from 15 mph, and I was already behind him. I was in first, and both of us got on it, my tail went sideways and I hit 2nd, again went sideways and we took it up to 60, but he couldn't pull from me and I couldn't gain! We stopped at the next light and he gave me a thumbs up, I did the same and said damn nice car! He had a passenger I didn't. I also now have a ztube and stillen cai. So the cars are very closely matched surprisingly.

An E55 is a beast, i have driven an E55 and an S55, my friends father has both of them but there is absolutely no driving experience in them except for being pinned to your seat in straight line acceleration. I was in an M3 last night with just a chip that removed ev limiter and governor and we hit 165 with no problem and it was still pulling?!?!? It was such a sick car and i love them so much, they are great and very fast i never felt the same in a g35 coupe 6 spd as i did in that car but dont get me wrong, i love both as to y i have a G35 but i still want an M3.
