KandN air filter
KandN air filter
I talked to the Infiniti dealer and they said that the K&N air filter MIGHT mess up the sensor and cause power loss/stalling. Any one have experience with this?

IMHO, the K&N panel isn't worth the hassle. Just get an oem panel and change it every other oil change or every 7k or so. Really, after debating the subject at length (and owning a K&N panel), it's what I've concluded.
k/n filter is an expensive filter not much better than anything else really,
i just use a reusable filter - lightly oil it and clean it every 3rd oil like k/n (requires no cleaning kit at all - faster too) - it's better than k/n and less oil issue clogging the sensor since the resuabale one i have has so much surface area - and yeah, don't over oil the damn thing - this is not a carburated motorcycle

I have had the stillen intake for over 10k miles and they use the K&N cone filter in there and I haven't had any problems with oil getting anywhere near the sensor. I think you only have issues if you soak the filter in oil.

over time oil will build up on something because it's just the nature of thing to get dirty - motorcyles don't go very long on k/n before something goes wrong or the bike gets crashed first - anywho by 100,000 on k/n oil will get inside your system and clog something and that's pretty surely to happen when you gamble with oil

Wrong Again Infinitisport, I've had Stillens CAI on my coupe since it was new....that's 30K miles without issues. My last Z had 125K miles on the clock and that was the first mod I made, dual K&N filters. My Son's XB has always had a K&N intake and at 100K miles he hasn't had a problem. Anyone that believes K&N filters aren't worth the $ are fooling themselves. All you need to do is clean your filter every 3rd oil change, it's easy....Oh you also need to follow the instructions....not difficult either!

1 overoil = oil invasion
2 underoil = filter dries out - break apart = dirt invasion
3 requires constant routine maintenance = ocd people like garyC neglecting other important duties in their life outside of G35 realm
just a few to remind you that the alternatives such as dry filter amsoil or reusable filters (w/ light oiling) is also a good choice
So Riverside Infiniti must be idiots for selling them.
