Re: 2005 Changes New from Infiniti

The "G" has more power and more changes than the "Z" for next year?

350Z Coupe

The high performance Nissan Z®, which comes with a standard 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine, has sold over 70,000 units since its introduction to the U.S. market in August 2002. The stylish, 287-horsepower 350Z continues the Z heritage of design, performance and value that has remained unchallenged since the original Datsun 240Z was introduced 35 years ago as a 1970 model. In 2005, the 350Z adds only minor enhancements.

Enhancements to the 2005 350Z Coupe:
· Standard Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS)
· Clutch pedal effort has been reduced for easier operation
· 5-speed automatic transmission features downshift rev matching
· Standard driver’s seat front and rear lifter
· Heated outside mirrors
· Faster navigation system processor for improved route calculation times
· Newly available Ultra-Yellow exterior color (Liquid Aluminum exterior no longer available)

If I had to guess, the extra HP is probably ECU related.
Just my opinion.

Re: 2005 Changes New from Infiniti

I just bought a new stereo supporting MP3 for my pickup, since it was cheaper for a whole new unit with mp3 than to replace my broken factory changer.

In that case, it was nice since I could get even more music on 1 CD than on 6 audio CD-Rs. Just think, if I could put 6 into the G35, that would be 60 hours worth of music

I'm still curious to see if the price increases much due to these changes. Have they announced any pricing yet? I would not be surprised to see a $2,000 - $3,000 increase since these are nice changes and the coupe is selling well anyway. It will still be probably dramatically cheaper than the next 3-series coupe (and much more powerful).

Re: 2005 Changes New from Infiniti

I must say I'm really disapointed in this news. I had the intention of buying a 05 AT coupe and made peace with the fact that it would have less HP then the MT version thinking I could always mod it to make up for the HP difference. The thing is, I was expecting to see the Intelligent Key AND Memory Seat feature in the coupe after reading the 05 manual (page 123 and 148 respectively) which would of compensate for the HP difference since the MT was not suppose to get it. Now, there is no mention of neither in this news. Was I the only one expecting these two features or did I simply read the 05 G35 manual wrong ( I realize it says "if so equiped" and that the picture is of a Sedan but I thought it would apply to both)? Without these two features, I'm once again gonna have to rethink this purchase cause it's not worth it for me to spend that much money on a new car when I'm still very happy with my current car, which is a Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo with 300 HP which have been problem free after more than 10 years.

Re: 2005 Changes New from Infiniti

I'm not surprised that the new G will have more power than the Z. Infiniti should have made it a larger difference from the beginning and charged more to differentiate the two cars. People shopping for luxury brands will more likely pay more to get more. Will be interesting to see the price increase.

For those of you that want power reclining. Just buy a set of the 05 seats and sell your current leather ones. :P
