Infiniti G35 coupe expands its performance capabilities for the 2005 model year with the addition of Sport-Tuned Suspension Package featuring 19-inch wheels and tires, drilled aluminum pedals and Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD). The G35 Coupe 6MT model with 6-speed manual transmission receives 18 additional horsepower, increasing power output to 298.

The 2005 G35 coupe’s interior has also been refined with a new instrument panel and console area and use of new materials and textures, including the addition of real aluminum trim on the center console, door grips and dash, and mp3 playback capability added to the standard 6-disc CD changer. Ultra-soft leather-appointed seats are now standard on all models. Other changes for 2005 include the addition of three new exterior colors and two new interior colors.

Enhancements to the 2005 G35 Coupe include:

· Additional 18 horsepower (298 hp) for G35 Coupe 6MT model
· Standard Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD) on Sport-Tuned Suspension Package and G35 Coupe 6MT models
· Available 19-inch polished aluminum-alloy wheels and 19-inch performance tires
· Redesigned instrument panel and console with use of real aluminum trim
· Two new available interior colors: Wheat (beige) and Stone (gray)
· Available drilled, aluminum pedals
· Power recline added to front seats
· Three new available exterior colors: Serengeti Sand, Lakeshore Slate and Athens Blue

Most notable to me (and now official):
- 19" wheels
- VLSD
- Aluminum center counsole
- mp3 playback
- +18bhp (6MT)
- POWER RECLINE SEATS!!!!!!!

I'm sorry...but from a marketing standpoint...that's pretty damn stupid to add 18hp instead of 20hp to make it an even 300...

I think the 300 mark was not touch since the old coupe has 280 and 300 would seem as if it has touched the next league and would drop the pricing of the 04s, its all about visual effect, very similar to product pricing in 99s, makes you think it hasnt crossed the mark yet, even though its right there..this is my $0.02

I wonder if the aluminum console will be covers that us 03 and 04's can buy.

I really worry about how many extra horses they can squeeze out of this V6. It seems at though the 280 is already pushing the envelope. I think that you're going to see a serious decline in reliability. Just throwing that out there... everyone can yell at me now.

crazi...you could be right...but that doesn't change the fact that 298 instead of 300 is still annoying

Re: 2005 Changes New from Infiniti

I thought I read somewhere that there is a Insurance Cost threshold when the 300 hp mark is crossed. If so, the 298 hp keeps it just below that mark and keeps those costs down.

Re: 2005 Changes New from Infiniti

as far as where they get the extra HP from, i'd figure its all just changes in programming with the ECU and exhaust upgrades... i don't think its anything major that you can't add on to the AT coupe...

what i'm kinda disappointed in is that the intelligent key isn't mentioned for the coupe... i was under the impression that it came with all the AT models, coupe and sedan... i guess we'll have to see once they release the full specs...

Damn, POWER RECLINE FRONT SEATS!!! Who cares about the 298 HP, gimme the damn new seats!
Seriously, since I have a 5AT coupe, that's the one 2005 upgrade I really would like to have. 298 HP is nice but I wouldn't have had it anyway with a 5AT.

Re: 2005 Changes New from Infiniti

FWIW... I test drove an '04 6MT this past weekend. Intent is to buy an '05 6MT. The salesman told me the 298 hp was below 300 for insurance reasons, as once you hit 300, it gets a bump cuz it's considered a "performance" car.

Never trust what a salesman say. They are biggest liar ever. I was once told Honda Accord didn't have 6MT mated with the V6 because it is simply too powerful.
Lol. I wouldn't be surprised if urban legends are all created by salesmen
