Don't mean to double-post but this just needs to get out there.

I know this is a common problem for other G owners. (Dealer said it's common, too)

This is for those of you looking to buy a G35.

Save yourself a shitload of pain and suffering and DO NOT get the factory NAV.

I know eventually down the line, having the stock NAVI would keep the value of my car higher... but ONLY IF IT WORKED!!!

I've had the car for a lil over 2 months. NAVI has been broken for about 2 weeks. They say the part is on back-order and that I will have to wait for about another 2 weeks just to get an ETA.

For those of you that have the factroy NAV and have had no problems, (DISC ERROR), count your blessings. It's acinine. Granted it's a sweet system but like i said, WHEN IT WORKS.

I've made a call to INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS and they told me they've opened up a ticket, will be calling the dealer to get a handle on the situation and give me a call. I demanded compensation and they said the part is on backorder, nothing they could do.

that makes me feel alot better about not getting the navi!

 

i love my nav. I can't count how many times it have saved me from getting lost in strange areas.

I have to totally disagree.

Sorry you haven't had the luck I , and many of us, have, but the Navi on my Sedan and now on my Coupe has worked flawlessly. I love it and can't imagine not having one now.

I suppose there must have been issues with some, after all nothing is perfect, but that certainly hasn't been the case with either of mine.

Warranty will fix you up and you'll be happy again.

I love my NAV as well.. I use it ALL the time on roadtrips. I recently roadtripped with a buddy of mine to Atlanta in his M3 and used his NAV to find some destinations. It sucks compared to the Nissan/Infiniti system. Plus, I have NAV-TV on my unit so I can play DVDs as well!

The navi systems on our G and FX rock. I spent two weeks in California without a map or yellow pages, and was able to get directions to anywhere I wanted to go within seconds. I got the Disc Error thing at one point, but I took it into the dealer and they swapped it out without a peep. Except for that one-time problem, it's worked flawlessly.

I'll deal with the headache of exchanging one nav for another (free of charge, and an only slightly possible occurance), because it's saved me far more headaches.

Mine has worked flawlessly...one time though it told me to turn left on a one-way going right! Lucky I was paying attention =)

Never had one bleep from the Nav. It's by far the option there is.

 

Like i said in my original post.

It's a SWEET system. My ownly gripe is that mine happened to be the one that effed up. How did it happen? Couldn't tell you. Didn't abuse it..

Hey guys, i just needed to vent.
If i didn't give a [censored] about the NAV or didn't like it as much as i did, why would i care if it didn't work? If i didn't like it or use it as much, i wouldn't be bitching about the backorder and the delay in getting it repaired/replaced.

I know it rocks. That's why i miss it.
Like i said before, count your blessings.
I know a few other people on here have had the same problem.

I want my freakin navi back.

hopefully the 2005 nav fixes those bugs and flaws...

 

yehh uhh i have an 03... my nav hasn't broken down once... it has saved my a$$ many times

 

Mine has locked up many times (disk error, version not correct) and took it to the dealership aand all they said is that it got too hot and that is normal. I think it only got up to 90 once this summer here in Indiana. I couldnt even get them to at least get me a new disk. I want to do that switch mod, but I am scared that if the nav goes down for good, they would void my warranty because i cut some wires. My nav is really the only thing that has caused me any problems. I have noticed that some areas give better directions than others. Some times it just highlights highways and makes me find the rest of the way on my own. I kinda wish I got the double din and had a dvd player built in.

 

My nav has been worth every penny. Sorry to hear that yours hasn't.
