Who bought the coupe when first arrived late 2002?

a recent post about the "exclusive" factor of our coupes reminded me of when i first bought the coupe in dec. of 2002. now, i was never one to crave attention -- far from it actually. but the attention that we all got since the coupe just came out was absolutely priceless. i remember for at least 4-5 months, i didn't see another coupe in my area. there were so many stares and "thumbs up" from random ppl just admiring our cars. sadly, with so many coupes on the road now, their not a big deal anymore : (

who here also bought their coupe when it first came out in late 2002? ahhhh, the memories. paying the full msrp was truly worth it!!! : )

Man that's so weird, my dyno on a mustang dyno at baseline before my mods with just an injen was at 237 rwhp and 244 torque, then they gave me a print out of a bootleg run which went from 3500k rpm to 5700krpm and not to redline which was 221 rwhp and 230 rwt, my torque was always much higher, they didnt know what they were doing either !!

Re: Who bought the coupe when first arrived late 2002?

OK OK I'm cheating a little here because I got mine in Jan. 03, but I still think I count as I was the only coupe in my area for the first 4-5 months. A few people almost crashed trying to figure out what kind of car I was driving. It was alot fun.

...Like you said, now the coupes are a dime a dozen almost. On the way to work, there were 3, yes 3 coupes right in a row on the highway, and no it wasn't planned because I was one of them. oh well....

Got mine November 2002, first 6MT CB coupe in that area for a loooong time. ; ) I remember cruising downtown and getting stared at by tons of people...... Seems like all of those people ran out and bought a coupe in the next 6 months, because they are EVERYWHERE now. Thanks for the MAX 12,000 units a year limited production piece.

Re: Who bought the coupe when first arrived late 2002?

I got mine on 31 December 02. I drove back into work on the 2nd and people thought I had won the lottery or got a major raise (many still think it's a 60/70k$ car).

Just under 8000 miles so far :-D

Re: Who bought the coupe when first arrived late 2

I bought mine in Feb '03, before they caught on in ATL. People used to ask me what it was, how much it cost, how fast, etc all the time. My bro thought it cost me $60K when he first saw it.

A year and a half later, you can't swing a dead cat (no offense to "cat people") without hitting one and they're appearing in low-rent videos, being modded like Zs, etc. Enough for me. I sold mine last month.

Went and got a CL55 - hopefully, I won't see one of those with 5 inches of plastic protruding from the bottom of the front bumper in he near future.. :/
