Yeah, I'm even on my parents plan, multiple car, house, etc etc etc. And it's still that high. but I assume my driving record doesn't help me.

under my parents, they have been with all state for a while now, well alot of time so we should get a discount, and my parents are always talking to our "agent", seems like there friends or something, so i think im in for a discount hopefully, lol. i offered to get a job and help with gas and insurance, but they told me to focus more on school and grades, and as for the good student discount? my brother did that before he got his license and it helped him out and my parents, i wanna do it also, my gpa this year has been 3.0 and higher unweighted. so i wanna find out what the requirements are

Insurance isn't that expensive if you go with the right company.

I dunno how you GPA plays into this, but I basically failed grades 8 9 10 and half of 11 before I dropped out and got my GED. Amazingly, I still got to my junior year doing literally nothing. not even coming to class half the time. So i would say maybe it's your grades that help, but I dunno.

Anyways /thread hijack. I aint saying you're dumb, though. If you managed to save up 7k by 16, you got a leg up.

hey, i'm 18 years old and own my own G35 coupe, bought if for just a touch under 20K US, and i'm from canada. I also payed for a trip for me and my dad to fly there and pick it up. I've been working part time and full time during school summers for 3 years to pay for it, did a little bit of currency trading on the side while saving up.

maybe this kid (sorry but your younger even to a 18 year old) is like me and just knows how to save money. Be proud, moneys hard to come by these days, i'd save up a little extra before buying the car, remember, soon your going to have to pay for gas as well, its not cheap, especially if your me and you pay over $4.00 a gallon for only 91 octane ):

My parents didn't put my name on the policy until I got my grades up, which happened about 6 months after I got my license...all that just so I can drive their 96 Corolla, forget about buying me anything..lol

So ya that was 9 years ago, I turned 25 last week and I'm still listed as the driver for the Corolla (which belongs to my uncle now) since I put the G in the same policy ...so if you're parents have a cheap car, put your name under that car and one of your parents as the driver of the G. It won't matter as long as the car and your name is in the policy.

don't bother purchasing it.

Just have your parents take out coverage for them selves without mentioning you as a driver.

Or put your name on a cheaper older family car (if such exists)
