Converting to no spoiler

Has anyone converted a car with a factory spoiler to one without. I don't want the car to appear painted when I go to trade it, so I want to keep the original trunk lid with the spoiler and buy a new one without. I'm wondering if anyone knows what it would cost for a new trunklid, and center brake light assembly. Also is there a different package tray for the center brake light to mount on, and what do they cost?

mabey you could try to trade with someone? lids usually end up being expensive. A good body shop should be able to take care of the holes with no problem, thats probably the cheapest route too.

Re: Converting to no spoiler

Well, it looks like a new (probably unpainted) trunk lid is about $350.

I'm pretty sure you would need a new rear parcel shelf, light, and probably a few more things as well.

Re: Converting to no spoiler

Thanks for the link dave, looks like the rear panel is $50. Can't find a price for the brake light, but it looks like the whole thing is going to be around $450 give or take without paint. That's worth it to me. JZ, to answer your question, I've been trying to find a trade for a month now and no dice. I don't want to repaint my current trunklid, because I replaced a hood on my last car for hail damage and had every dealer I shopped my trade to offer me less on my trade because of "apparent front end collision repair."

Where are you located? and how long have you had your car? I might be interested if it is in mint condition as my trunk is...

Re: Converting to no spoiler

I'm in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The car is an 03 with 21k miles on it. I thought the trunk was in mint condition but I wanted to inspect it before I posted that, and sure enough I found two faint scratches on the spoiler and a small chip on top of the lid. I'll try to post pictures for anyon who's intrested, but the scratches are too faint to show up on the camera.

Re: Converting to no spoiler

I went to the dealer today to find out what it would cost to get all the parts to convert to no spoiler, and it's pretty expensive. Center brake light $240, package tray $109, trunk lid not painted $440. Just wanted to post incase anyone else is searching for this information later.
