Re: Fuel Economy

I got about 17 when I first got it...now its constantly between 19.5-20.5mpg. On long trips I can only get MAYBE 24 (perhaps thats because I'm doing 100 most the time haha). But no matter how much I baby it, I cant break 21mpg city.

Re: Fuel Economy

It can be difficult to tell on just 150 miles what your real gas mileage is. What if the tank wasn't full when you got it. Just 1 gallon difference can make a difference.

Also, unless you are being careful during the breakin period, you may be having too much fun pushing it, especially in the city.

Re: Fuel Economy

Maybe, I try ti consistently maintain about 30-40mph. I never take it past 4000 and.....I don't turn on the A/C much.

Re: Fuel Economy

I do a fair amount of highway driving (80%/20%), get stuck in traffic pretty often, and am averaging 22mpg in my 5AT. I use the AC constantly. I'm in California, I imagine people without MTBE should be able to do even better.

Re: Fuel Economy

I use AC Econ 100% of the time driving a 6mt about 80% highway, I get ~20mpg consistently. I don't go WOT very often at all, but I do like to accelerate and pass other cars.

Re: Fuel Economy

My daily commute is 50/50 city/highway driving and I get 18mpg consistently.

Re: Fuel Economy

With some freeway driving today, I managed to get about 12.2 or so. Which...makes me feel a bit better but not quite as happy as I should be. Maybe I should take it on the Freeway more often.

Re: Fuel Economy

How long is your commute, if your commute is too short the engine hasn't warmed up completely so your mileage suffers.

Re: Fuel Economy

It's the break-in period - bottom line. I had the same thing. Wait until you hit 1,000 miles, it'll fix itself.
