Help!! - Summer tires + snow chains?
Alright... So last night, it was raining just a little bit and I was called out on a family emergency. We have 4 cars at home but unfortunately they were all being used (my dad is in town so he used my Jeep), so I had to take my G out. I knew the forecast called for *a little* snow, but within 10 minutes of arriving at my destination, it started coming down hard. Within about 20 minutes, all the roads were covered with a couple inches of snow.
I don't drive my car in the winter and my family knows that I can't because of my tires, but because of the emergency I had no choice. Sooo.. I thought to myself, I'll just leave my car there overnight and the snow should be melted by mid day tomorrow (which is today) since in Reno, NV, that's what happens 99% of the time...
But what also happens 99% of the time is our meteorologist suck ***** and can't seem to get anything right, so right now I am looking at just a little snow:
and it's still coming down.... Hard.
So my question (and I think I already know the answer) is can I possibly slap on some chains on my car (assuming I can even get my car moving to get them on; probably not) and drive it at like.. 10mph and get home? I don't care if it takes me 5 hours to drive 8 miles, I'll do it. What I won't do is have my car sitting in a ****ing parking lot in front of a bar for the next three months. I'm not sure if snow chains on a summer performance tire will work at all but.. Give me some hope? *nervous LOL*
Or if someone is kind enough to let me borrow their winter shoes...... I'm strapped for cash at the moment and I won't ever use them since I drive the Jeep in the winter.......
*cry*

I am home and I drive my Jeep in these conditions.
Let me ask you this... Would you think your G would be safe sitting in a parking lot (which is 100% empty at night) next to a busy highway just a couple miles south of a semi-ghetto area (where my car got keyed several months ago) for the next two months since the snow won't clear until then?
