well @ least you do it yourself but with that kinda time invested might be cheaper to pay for it. Im sure you'll get faster as you practice though.

She's my baby and I love her, okay, i'm sorry, i'm getting carried away. The point is, it's a sinch and a very enjoyable experience with your car. Especially when you stop using those cheap oem oil filters the stealership throws on there. Oh yeah, stock up on drain plug gaskets too. Do it like a pro.
I bought these Ishino brand after market pure copper drain plug gaskets. They're not made by nissan but they are identical and made for your drain plug. I ordered ten of them. Just look up Ishino g35 drain plug gasket and you'll find em. Here's a link, http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/...ek+Google+Base By the way, I got these and they're quality copper gaskets and thread on to the drain plug with perfection creating a perfect seal. lol, didn't mean to reply to myself, this is for the guy after me.

Drain plug gaskets can be picked up at a Nissan dealer (for a 350Z)

haha, i hate when that happens. like when i'm working on the interior of my ride and it's to the point where i can't drive it cuz it's half taken apart. so i'm stuck unless i put it back or have a friend pick me up to pick up a tool i need.

Replacing those gaskets is a joke, I've never changed the one on myG35 and only would if I noticed a leak/drip from the bolt. I changed the one on my last Z twice in 125K miles, it's not something that needs to be done regularly! Oil filters s/b hand tight plus 1/4 turn, that's been the rule for at least 50+ years and will require a wrench to remove due to expansion.

you can make the whole drain plug/gasket thing obsolete by getting an oil drain valve. They're secure, not expensive, and after you have it secured in place, you will never have to worry about stripping or damaging the threads from removal/replacement.

Yeah I thought about that. But I can't remember where I read that it would be best to change them with every oil change although I think you're right
