Re: G35 Lease Price

correct, if you plan on buying the vehicle at the end of lease it does not matter. I plan on returning mine and getting into a new lease, therefore, it affects me.

AReddy, I apologize if I came too strong, but I'm sick to my head on hearing such things from people who don't seem to grasp the idea of leasing dependent on the consumer's decision - because now we all know there are advantages to leasing based on their needs.

yeah man plus if you lease, you'll be more reluctant to take trips, short and long and road trips, so you will have less fun with the car
(some say you will have more fun with the car because you can abuse it and then just give it back after 3 years) but i dont like that mentality at all

Re: G35 Lease Price

Actually since I'm buying out the lease at the end of the term I'm not too conerned with mileage. Nothin beats a cruz to vegas in a hot sports car! Right now I'm using it as a daily driver and am averaging 62 miles a day. = D

Re: G35 Lease Price

FWIW, I used to think leasing doesn't make sense, but completely changed my mind on the G35.

1. Every dealer in DFW areas wants MSRP+ for a 6MT, and a minimum 2 months wait. Called a leasing company and they can get a car to me @ MSRP anywhwere from 24 hours to 1 week, depending if I wants to stick with my color/option choice...

2. Assuming good credit and a honest leasing company, if you would put the difference in payment (lease vs. finance) into a modest interest bearing account for the duration of the lease, you would have almost enough cash to pay off the residual value of the car *if* you choose to keep it. Bottom line, the actual cost of the car is almost identical between leasing or financing.

3. The most important reason I'm leasing is because I can have a 4 years test drive period to decide if I'm keeping the car. I've ran into too many cars with problems that doesn't come up until 2 -3 years into ownership: '96 SHO - Transaxle problems; '99 Acura TL - tranny problem, brake problems; '00 Lightning - heads problems, weak tranny, etc. With a lease, I have 48 months to decide if the car is a keeper or not.

Yes, residual value is a guessimate. But they are based on a lot of historical data. The neat part about a lease is that I don't have to buy the car if resale values plunges for whatever reasons. But for people who financed it, you are struck with either keeping the car or takes a huge hit selling it (or trading it in) for whatever the market think it is worth.

IMO, if you have the choice to either finance or buy a car, don't rule out leasing too quickly. BTW, I don't work for a leasing company and I don't believe there is a single best solution for everyone. Just wants to share my $0.02.

Re: G35 Lease Price

g_spot, you are right. Leasing can be a nightmare with a bad leasing company. But there are a few out there that are fair and doesn't try to play games. BTW, there isn't any 6MT coupe available in the metroplex and the leasing company was going to bring the car in from either Waco or TN.
