Dude, the FF platform has plenty of success'. Alot of them from Volkswagen. The MKI GTI, the MKVI GTI was amazing too. Civic EP3 Type R will out handle our G's any day, Peugeot 208's and 308s, Ford Focus SVT, Renault Menage, Nissan Sentra, Mazda 323 GTX

Those are all sick handling cars and there are plenty more out there. I wouldn't hate on front wheel drive because they have some seriously wicked chassis'. But I do agree, rwd is fun.

*edit* Completely forgot about the Mini Cooper's

The only Honda I'd ever even consider w/b the S2K cause it's about the coolest roadster on the street....

I have to agree...there is no room for stupid comments like that...plus there is no way for certain to know that every VW owner is a homo...that's what the 2010 census is for.....lol

This GTI makes a G look like your moms 85 Volvo station wagon. I saw this run, it was unreal.

205 MPH!

He ultimately did 208 for the day.

Very nice. Not a factory car though. Once you start modifying, the line between classes becomes very skewed.

They are nice cars and make for great DD's. A Turbo back + Tune/GIAC really wakes them up.

Also the RWD = Masculinity thing needs to be dropped. I'm sure a lot of you really take advantage of our cars being RWD during your daily commute. It makes absolutely no difference to me and does nothing for fun factor.

Oh yeah, but to make that "brick" do 200+ is quite a feat of skill. I think they said they got 713 hp out of it.

I used to own a mudered out 02 GTI. I still miss it. 5speed, albeit not the fastest thing, was so fun to drive. Handles better than my G, and I honestly never had any maintanence issues with it at all while I ownd it (almost a year). But I unfortunately got cut off the freeway by someone doing 55, and now it's sitting in car heaven. RIP

I have a buddy of mine that owns 3 VW's for his business. Over the last 9 years he has gone through an additional 4 more. In my opinion i never seen so many issues with it. Feels like after one problem is fixed the next one is around the corner. He does do proper maintenance. The cars aren't beated on because one time he fired an employee pulling up to the parking lot and you can see tire smoke trailing behind. Though that is what i saw it might be different for others. I myself would never want a VW. GTI is nice still though. If only it was made in japan or something.....

well i know my O2 sensor went....and my motor mounts crack @ 40K....and my window regulator went...forget changing headlights..good thing i swapped my turbo for a k04 cause my tiny k03 was about to go...my ECL was on all the time...I loved my GLI...especialy with the super K04 kit..but throwing codes like crazy and it was too tiny...it just looked like a girl car, so im happy to be in my G...of course i know this guy who built his GTI from the ground up...amazing machine...500+hp...huge turbo...but he did drop a tone of money into it....big turbo isnt cheap for the VW.
