Re: Extended Warranty

Grubbs offered me $2480 for the same extended warranty when I only had ~7000 miles on my G35C-6MT. They were supposedly having a deal with $1.00 over invoice, BS.

Re: Extended Warranty

Extended warranties though infiniti are a rip off. There are a lot of good private warranty companies who will warranty for much cheaper.

Re: Extended Warranty

go to http://www.carbuyingtips.com and there are links and descriptions about 3rd party warranties.

Does anyone have experiences w/ making claims using these 3rd party warranties?

Re: Extended Warranty

I had an extended warranty with a third party on an Audi A4 Quattro. At the time I believed that it was a good "investment" because the Audi was an all wheel drive and parts are extremely expensive.

I had the car until 80K miles and only used it twice. They screwed me, well to be honest they are in the business to make money and not make me happy. They would pay for the replacement of a water pump but not all the other parts that were damaged when the water pump blew up

Re: Extended Warranty

Infiniti finds it acceptable to lose $1,000 on an extended warranty [as a marketing tool] whereas after markets must not pay out even half what they take in on average to cover overhead and sales commissions.

Not to say some are not lucky, but there must be an equal number of unlucky ones.

Be careful in the last 12 months 3 Big COMPANIES HAVE LEFT POLICY HOLDERS without coverage via bankruptcy.

If you must buy only accept a factory back policy, they won't go out of business.

Re: Extended Warranty

The normal policies are 7 years 100,000 miles costing around $1500.......that means the 4year 60k [bumper to bumper] gets extended to 7 years 100k.

Lots of wear and tear things are never covered on any policy because they know to keep a car up tires and brakes, suspension, belts, fluilds, services, etc cost 8 to 15 cents per mile driven. Can't cover $3200-$6,000 for a measely $1500.

Re: Extended Warranty

There are hundred of extended warranty companies out there - but if you decide not to get (Infiniti extended service contract) which I would actually recommend - ease of payment- inclusive coverage - almost same coverage as factory warranty - less a couple of small things - but if not Infiniti's - then a reputable name - GE Capital - Western General - AAA - There are alot of smaller companis out there to -but then you risk smaller companies going out of business - or excessive down time on a claim - alot of the dealerships sell private warranties that they pool money - and have exclusions where you can fix your vehicle - must return to selling dealer if breakdown occurs within 100 miles... so on and so on - do your homework and read the covered components before signing... good luck

Re: Extended Warranty

I worked for a credit union in FL and we sold an Extended Warranty that was an EXCELLENT product. Countless members AND employees have benefited from it. It was always 25-50% less than warranties sold by the dealer, and the coverage was more comprehensive. At the time (2 years ago), insurance companies like State Farm was our strongest competitor in terms of both price, value and total coverage.
