What would u do
Hey wussup guys, I'm new to this forum, I've decided to get a g35 coupe, and I can pretty much get it at anytime. The problem is that I want an automatic( because of traffic) since there's only 1 dealership in my area they're jacking up the price on it - 38,000 - fully loaded; sticker. They also said that they're not getting anymore 2004's in, and that the 2005's were comming in December.
I dunno If this is BS though, the sales person used to work at my work for 8 years as a golf pro and recently quit, peeps said he was cool. It was weird though, I talked to him on the phone then a few days later (before I knew that he worked there), I waited on him at the country club that I work at. Well....it was just a weird coincidence. Proves how small the island (Oahu) is. Getting back on topic....
I can get a manual for VPP pricing - color, options, everything I want (IP/willow, premium, aero w/o spoiler, tire package, taxes, for about 33k.) I Checked out insurance too, All State, they're good, 450 for 6 months. Since I'm young (20 - paying for half of the car) I wouldn't mind a manual, but I don't know how to drive one. I know the basic concepts, and am willing to take some classes on it. How long would it take me to get the hang of it, I catch on to things fast. I just wanted to know what other people thought about my situation or what u would do. I won't get any other car besides this one. Thanks... Oz

Re: What would u do
I learned how to drive manual on another g35 coupe sitting on the lot. Took me about 30 minutes, then i was comfortable driving my own car home.. I had only driven stick one time before that, in a eclipse, and didnt really get very far.
My opinion is to go with the manual, I live in Los Angeles, where theres traffic at almost every time of day, but i love my decision on getting the manual. Never any regrets

38k for automatic?? That is absolutely absurd. You'll enjoy the 6mt more anyway. Although it may be a pain to be stuck in stop n go traffic, it still hasn't wiped off the smile that the open road gave me. As for not knowing how to drive stick, if you're a quick learner like you say, it shouldn't be a problem for you at all. I've taught a few of my friends how to drive stick on a Porsche.. and the spring clutches on those cars are a B-I-T-C-H! They learned fine though after a couple of stalls =)

Re: What would u do
First of all, I think a 38k Automatic is waaay to much. Odd that they quoted you only 33k for the 6mt when those are invoicing at more (because they automatically come with the sport coupe package: brembos, sun roof, etc...)
Secondly, you can learn how to drive stick in no time. If I learned anyone can. It's a lot more fun than an auto and once you get the hang of it, shifting in traffic (even here in CA traffic) is nothing. You don't even realize you're shifting after a while. It's all second nature.
Anyway, good luck on the car!! Let us know what you end up getting.

Re: What would u do
Been driving MT for quite some time, but whenever I switch
to a new car I need at least a couple of thousand miles to
really get use to the car to where I can control it like it was
my arm or leg. I don't mean to say I stall or yoyo, but not
as smooth as I want to fly through the gates.
So, you should just get a MT and learn how to drive like
everyone else while the car is new. You can always fall
back on a AT if you just can't get use to it. Heavy traffic
is not an excuse to get an AT imho. Just work out your
left cav more.![Wink](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
When you have the temporary plates on the car,
everyone will assume that you just recently aquired the
car and will be more understanding if you suck driving MT.![Smilie](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
