Charging Battery - 2007 Coupe with Smartkey

The original battery on my 2007 coupe is dead since the car has not been driven for about six weeks. The car is parked where jump starting is impossible.

I do have a battery charger. I ma concerned about charging the battery since the car has a smartkey. If I disconnect the battery for charging will the smartkey be affected? Can I charge the battery with the battery connections in place?

What are your recommendations?

Thanks.

mine went dead while sitting in the garage over the winter. I hooked a trickle charger to the batttery without disconnecting the terminal cables and my battery was fully charged the next day .

Not sure if this is any help, but when i took my car to the dealership last week they charged my battery up.. they didn't disconnect anything.. they just charged it while on the car. I don't know if that is the right way to do it.

There's no reason to disconnect the battery, if you're going to drive it get a jump if not just use your charger. Make sure you know which of the terminals is + or - mixing them up would be a major problem.
