04 g35

I was looking for some things to look for when buying a G35 but haven't come across any good threads.

I'm looking to buy an 04 G35 Coupe w/ 130k for about $8k. It's loaded and has the performance wheel package but needs new tires.

My question is, is there anything specific I should look for? Should I take it to a dealership and get it inspected? Is the mileage too high?

Thanks for any advice.

Get the car inspected. Especially when it has high mileage like that. Look for a place other than the dealership for an inspection since they will probably be cheaper.

well, its only good for what, maybe 3 years, 130K, seriously this cars engine is retired, only so long before it has high costs in the nursing home, shortly followed by a funeral.

160 to 180K is the best I think you'd get out of it, especially if its been driven hard.

8K$ is not very much however, but for 14 which yes I know is almost double what you were thinking will get you something with half the miles.

Oh, and if it needs new tires your looking at minimum of $150 a piece mostly, atleast thats the cheapest good tire, so, about 600 plus install which is pretty cheap, you could probably get it for 50 bucks for all 4.

That's a really good price for an '04 but with that many miles on the clock it could easily cost your another $8K when things start going wrong! You're better off spending $12 to $15K for one with half that mileage....

Hmm, so it's sounding like a G35 with this kind of mileage isn't going to be that reliable? What are some things that are common to G35s that start to go wrong around this age? Does it matter that it's an automatic?

Basically I guess my question is now should I not even consider this even with the low price? I don't really have the kind of cash to spend $14 or $15k...

I just got thru fighting a 10 MM....under my hood! If you shop around you should be able to find a low mileage '03/'04 coupe for $12K. Anything with 50/60K miles should last you serveral years if it's taken care of with frequent oil changes and service. Hope you find one....

+1 on saving up more and getting one with half the miles.

Spend the extra cash and get a sample with lower mileage. The VQ35 is reliable, but not immortal.

Like I've been saying, you gotta pay to play esp. with expensive cars such as G35, Lexus IS/GS, E36/46, etc.

I don't think the miles are a problem IF you have all the maintenance records.

If not, I'd pass. Too many problems from negligence could pop up.

If service records are available, it's worth a shot. Without.....it's a major gamble. This goes with any used car, low or high mileage.
