There is a post on this in the FAQ

That post was about the earlier models. I'm not sure if it has changed for the 06 or not. You can probably find more info in the Audio, Video & Electronics subforum.

What's stopping you from doing an aftermarket duel din system?

the amount of money and effort you spend trying to fit a factory nav in there will be a lot more than if you just went a double din setup.

an aftermarket unit would be more usable. (touch screen, better updated layout and user interface).

an oem unit would be more pimp and stealth. also better on the resale value if you were to sell your car. BUT. the oem unit is whack. it uses a joystick and it has the 8-bit nintendo graphics.

I have a stock unit and kinda hate it when I have to use it. but since I don't use it a lot, i don't care. it's just still cool every time i turn on the car and the screen pops up.

that's all.

The stock navi is so far behind the current technology especially in terms of usability. I have the stock navi but i always prefer to the use the tom tom app with my iphone.

Yeah, go aftermarket. The navi I have now isn't touch screen, and the interface looks bad.....

Sad how honda went touch screen in 2000... And Nissan went touch screen in 2008. 8 years behind.

This thread is probably dead but I agree with just about everyone in here go aftermarket. You can put the stock one in but it requires about a weekend of work, etreme patience, and tons of wire tracing. Download the service manual and look at the schematic and if you feel like you are up to it then do it. I will say u pretty much have to pull out the whole dash and heavy hvac unit other than that just a bunch of splicing and soldering. Also your mpg's, and average speed won't work unless u get a 06 navi gauge cluster. If none of this interest u then go aftermarket. Lot less time putting it in and more user friendly. Also if you do decide this is what you wanna do then you have to get navi from a 06 there are wiring differences within the systems and make sure you at least get pigtails on the dvdrom unit if not you will pay a pretty penny just for the connectors.

I have navi system on my 06 G and I hardly use it. Dont get me wrong, it is nice to have it around, but you probably save more if you go with a double din deck and save that extra space for storage above the glove compartment.
