Re: Listing Mods and Price

Re: Listing Mods and Price

Thats what I thought, even I am clueless in 95% of the things and there are really really smart and knowledgeable ppl on this forum, so if everyone can add a little bit of their exp along with the mods they are talking about and have done, could mean a world to a lot of people...even if it is debadging/rebadging the car to superchargers and more..

Hope people enter some small and sweet posts..

Re: Listing Mods and Price

ok I guess I'll start.....

Name of Mod: AEM CAI
Type: Intake
Price: $200 Shipped/Installation Free(DIY)
Review: Just like any other intake, no rubbing of the AC line except it is touching a rubber tube underneath. I'll check it every so often to see if it's cutting through....so far nothing. Nice sounding at high RPM's, made my exhaust note a tiny bit louder. Only thing that irritates me is that the cone sits in front of the grill....might be bad for rainy weather...thinking about going with the Z-tube/popcharger during winter.

Re: Listing Mods and Price

Name of Mod: Fujitsuobo Legalis R
Type: Exhaust
Price: $780+shipping/Installation Free(DIY)
Review: Full stainless steel, looks nice. Little bit louder than the stock but not by much, has a more race sound instead if that makes sense. Perfect fit on to stock mounting points, pretty easy to install if you know what your doing. Down side is that it does not come with a Y-pipe. All in all though I love it.

Name of Mod: 350z Carbon Fiber Engine Cover
Type: Engine Cover?
Price: $125 shipped/Installation Free(DIY)
Review: Doesn't really do anything just dresses up the engine a little more. Good fit onto the stock mounting points in the engine bay.

Re: Listing Mods and Price

Name of Mod: Clear Corners
Type: Exterior Lighting
Price: $37.95 +S&H for Cormers and $15 + S&H for Clear PIAA Xtreme White Bulbs (Parts) + $0 (Labor)
Review: Stock Amber Corner Lens pop out easily. Just unplug wiring harness from bulb plug. Install Xtreme white bulbs in Clear Corner Lens, plug into wiring harness, and pop corner into body. Repeat for other side.

Name of Mod: Aluminum Z Pedals
Type: Interior
Price: $74 + S&H for 6MT
Review: Old pedals come off easily. New Al clutch pedal pops on. New Al clutch & brake pedals install easily when heated in boiling water....rubber softens and allows easier stretching over metal peadl lands. New Al throttle pedal clips into place....use small mirror to see how rubber pedal attached and copy that when installing new pedal.

Re: Listing Mods and Price

Name of Mod: Skyline/350GT Badges
Type: Badgges
Price: $44 for both
Review: JDM look....easy to do. Best way to take off old badges is to use a hair dryer or heat gun to losen the sticky parts. Then use dental floss to get it off. If there's residue left Bug and tar remover worked for me.

Re: Listing Mods and Price

Oh christ here we go:

Mod: Z tube / Pop charger
Price: List (check conceptz, thats where I orderd it from)
Labor: DIY, very easy install, only annoying part is the rubber pieces that connect the heat shield to the "ram air" Its a real PITA (I did this in cold weather, would ahve been more plyable in the warm weather)
Review: Great sound improvement from 3K and up, basically makes the car sound like a stock 350z with a little more bite. The whistling noise is addictive

Mod: Unorthodox Racing Pulley Set (all 3)
Price: conceptz's list price
Labor: $80? might have been less
Review: Motor revs much faster, both directions, great difference in acceleration, causes the car to engine brake faster though (Had to drive a stock 6mt G35 to really notice the slow down difference)

Mod: Crawford v5 Plenum
Price: $395 (+core if you dont send yours in)
Labor: Basic DIY, throttle body removal is a little tricky, total install time >45 minutes for those who know what they are doing, ~45 minutes for those who dont. I can swap teh plenum in 25 minutes and I've only done it 3 times now
Review: Amazing mod, amazing sound, really opens the G up, sounds so much better than with just the Z tube, gives it a "air flowing through a hollow tube" kind of sound (it like reverberates more, you have to hear it to understand) Power increase is very noticeable.

Mod: Crawford High flow cats
Price: 495? I think this is about right, check www.crawfordz.com
Labor: DIY for those who feel comfortable, if you have doubts, dont do it.
Review: Throttle note is much more aggressive, great pickup in low end tq.

Mod: Technosquare ECU (crawford tuning package)
Price: 600
Labor: DIY, just go without your cars for a few days, ECU is located behind the bottom glove box
Review: Definatly worth the no G for 2 days wait. Car feels strong to 7200 rpms with my current setup, definatly the biggest increase out of all my current mods. However, I need the headers (my car reaks of unburnt gas after hard runs right now, as I'm running a little rich, havent actually floored my car in 3 weeks, havent broken 4.5 except in downshifting in 2) When the headers go on, I'll see the true potential of this mod.

Also currently on order:
- Crawford headers
- Injen SES exhaust
- JDM Battery Cover
- JDM pedal set
- Nismo Front end

I'm debating the Gialla vs the DS grille right now, as these parts arrive, Ill add more info on them.

2003.5 G Coupe premium. 6MT Black/black
JWT/Z tube, UR pulley set, Crawford v5 plenum, Crawford Cats, Technosquare ECU (Crawford package) -Crawford headers and Injen SES on the way-

Re: Listing Mods and Price

I guess I'll go next (going to be a while) - I'll do them in the order they were installed:

Product: Aluminum Pedals
Price: Free from dealer
Review: Easy to install, a must for all G owners

Product: JDM Clear Corners
Price: $60 from Grubbs (a long time ago)
Review: By far the easiest thing in the world to install, look super clean on BS, just worry I'm going to be at the mall one day and come back and they're going to be gone

Product: Pro-1 Intake
Price: $35 + Z-tube from Moog (I think it goes for around $80)
Review: Great sound and looks - gains are negligible as with all intakes on the market

Product: Custom Blue 6-wire Grounding Kit
Price: $40 from Moog
Review: Could feel that the engine idled smoother, that was about it, bought it for the looks more than anything else...

Product: Helix Test Pipes
Price: $179 shipped off ebay
Review: Great power adder if you can tolerate the loudness/rasp - one of the best bang for $ out there

Product: UR Crank Pulley
Price: $230 shipped w/ belts from Concept Z Performance
Review: Of everything I've done, this was probably one of the most noticable - the car revs like crazy with the lightened pulley - had a squeek for a few days - retightened the belt and no problems since

Product: Kinetix V4 Plenum
Price: $362 shipped from my350z.com Group buy
Review: Was skeptical as many are about the cracking, but figured I'd give the new one a try - it has been an absolute gem... noticable increase in power starting around 3500 rpms to peak - great sound, esp. @ idle and WOT, this model is far superior to Crawford imo (can run it hard for an hour and put my hand on the plenum - no heatsoak)

Product: Carbon Fiber 350Z Engine Cover
Price: $90 shipped through my350z.com Group Buy
Review: looks great under the hood and works perfectly with the Kinetix plenum w/ no rubbing or fitment issues

Product: GReddy EVO II Exhaust
Price: $950 shipped from RevHighOnline
Review: Bought this exhaust mainly for the sound and looks (exhausts are hit or miss when it comes to gains) - ended up feeling like it added some HP around the mid- to upper- rpm range - was still raspy with the test pipes though, but sounded mean as hell after 3500 rpms...

Product: Kinetix resonated test pipes
Price: $345 through my350z.com Group Buy
Review: one of the most satisfying mods, because it made my $1k exhaust finally sound like a $1k exhaust - power decrease could not be felt vs regular test pipes, actually feel a little more pull in the lower rpms... perfect combo of power and sound

Product: Hotchkis Sways
Price: $250 shipped from Titan Motorsports
Review: Really haven't had a chance to put them through the paces, but during street driving the car feels more balanced with slightly less body roll - I think I have a blown out shock so maybe I can get some coilovers soon

Product: Pro-1 Headers
Price: PM Moog
Review: I just received these today, I will have them installed next week and I will edit this post with the details after install - hoping for some more power in the mid-range as well as a deeper/louder sound... stay tuned

Next on the list: Tein Basics, 19" GT-C's (9.5/10.5) w/ Toyo's, Nismo replica front bumper, ED side skirts, rear splash guards, JWT or Crane cams (if available after the 1st of the year)

Hope this is good information - if you have any questions, just ask/PM

Re: Listing Mods and Price

product: Z-tube
price: $80
review: Same as others.

product: Stillen High Flow Air Box
price: $260
review: I love the sound it makes. Its like every other intake but this looks as close to stock as possible. The Stillen kit itself does not give a sound difference but combined with the Z-Tube it is wonderful.
