Best Exhaust Bang for the Buck.
#16
In the case of the X02, it's in no way better than the HKS exhaust it tries to mimic, so why would I recommend it to somebody?? It's as simple as that. I'm not trying to offend anybody here, and I'm not going around media share posts bashing other people who bought an X02 either. But if somebody is openly asking for opinions, I'm going to tell them that the X02 sucks.
I'm done with this topic, not trying to hijack OP's thread. Sorry!

Can anyone prove that the HKS makes more power than the X02?
People can bash the X02 all they want, but if you live in an area were it rarely rains or snows, the exhaust will be fine. as for fitment, even the HKS's don't fit perfectly. For fitment problems of the X02, grab a torch and it's fixed. Simple.
I have the X02 with test pipes and a Magnaflow resonated x-pipe in place of the X02 resonators and it's quiet as hell until your at WOT.
I got it for $260 picked up brand new. Much cheaper than the $1100-1400 price tag of the HKS.
To the OP, the best bang for the buck according to Shawn at Church and reading the forums is test pipes. There are pro's and cons to test pipes. It makes power but it is illegal in most places. Also, it leans out the a/f ratio but can be fixed with an Osiris tune.

i never said it was better, if i could easily afford the hks i would get it. but for 1/4 the price, and ME being satisfied with how it looks, performs and sounds....thats all that matters. it hasnt rusted on me, the welds all look good, only my left tailpipe sat in too far, so i had to bend it out. its not raspy, looks great, and is cheap. and im sure dyno numbers wont be a huge difference either way.
this is kinda like the xsturbo intercooler deal, in the beginning they were crap, now they perform JUST AS GOOD as the name brand intercoolers......yet cheaper.

No offense to the HKS owners. I will be honest and say the I am unable to afford a $1200 exhaust system. My car is not a show car. In the end, it's just bent pipes with mufflers and flanges. The research for the HKS is done and they wont go broke anytime soon. If I'm paying for the research and development, then why haven't they came out with newer updated systems like Motordyne. The HKS doesn't even use v-band's. If I had the cash, I'd go with Motordyne all the way. When have you seen an HKS rep on the forums?
The X02 isn't off the hook. I've owned 2 different X02's. Both have had failed resonators. the perforated cores started to come apart after only a few hundred miles. It didn't matter to me as I was going to switch it out with a resonated x-pipe anyways. Also, the h-pipe is a joke. The h-pipe is simply a 1/2 hole which probably isn't very functional.
To the OP, if you get an exhaust, make sure you pair it up with test pipes or HFC's to get the full potential. That's where the biggest restriction is.
