Warranties: Do's and Donts?
Hey guys,
Yes I know this is a "noob" question, but I figured I better ask before I do anything I regret. I have a Bumper-Bumper warranty till the end of the year on my car, and power train for another 2 years. What things will void either of those warranties?
I was about to buy a HFC, but then thought...will this void my warranty? If it will, I'll just wait, but if not, I really want to get them
I've herd different things about what will and what wont, such as a Cat-Back system will not, and neither will a cold air intake. If you guys have anymore info on this, it would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a bit of a noob too, but I would say it depends on the dealer you go to and REV2, spacer, aftermarket clutch & flywheel, catback, intake, and possibly a short throw on mine. One dealer says it will void my warranty & one says they will back me with warranty work. Both are in Chicago area.

Things to NOT do... put a twin turbo kit on
But seriously, its all up to the dealer. I went in with MREV2, plenum spacer, Z-tube, K&N filter, HFC and Cat-back exhaust and Osiris tune for leaking valve covers and they didn't even bat an eye.
I've also heard stories of guys who only had a cat-back exhaust and were completely denied any sort of warranty work on the basis that they must have been racing the car if they were modifying it...
Try and make friends with some of the tech's/ office guys and ask how the service manager views mods on the DL.

I'm not too familiar with this Act seeing as I live in Canada but it might help. Look up the Magnuson Moss Act. Basically, a dealership can't deny your warranty for mods unless they can prove that the mod caused the problem. If it was caused by the mod, I'm pretty sure you have to pay for the labor costs of finding the cause of the problem.
