Q: Any mechanics here? Change drive belts
Q: Any mechanics here? Change drive belts
I need to change both drive belts on my 2005 coupe, are there any mechanics here that work out of their home? I went to dealership but they want $300...I know its not that hard and I could do the work myself just don't have a place to do it right now....if anyone has done before and wants to do it (for a fee of course), please let me know. Thanks!
Forgot to say: I'm in Los Angeles area near Burbank/Glendale

You're welcome!
If you're uncomfortable with doing it yourself then take it to nissan. They'll do it for $150-160.

just find an empty parking lot somewhere. IIRC, all u need are a socket wrench with 10mm & 12mm sockets (for undertray and belt tensioners, respectively), a 14mm wrench to break loose the tensioner pulleys, and some wood blocks to drive up on. i haven't had an OEM intake on my car in a long time, but I think you can work around the air scoop.
hmmm.. my infiniti dealer charges $160 or so.. $300 is a little too much.. maybe call another dealer in the area?
also.. if you are not good with DIY or have tool/space.. just take it to the dealers.. you might have to adjust it once or twice if it squeals after you replace them.. i had to do it once.. and it was a pain.

At 80k the belts have been changed already and if they haven't then I'd be astonished. Generally they need changing when you're able to look at them and see that they're dried out and cracking. If they're squeeling and you see that they're dried out and cracking then that is a definite sign they're going and need to be replaced. You don't want to go until you break a belt because that can be fairly dangerous on the road.
