He hit my G35

about a month ago, i was at a casino with my older brother. we were eating in the casino when a employee announced "Driver of a red Infiniti G35 anybody?"
When i followed him outside to the parking lot, i see a ford focus next to my front bumper with a large scratch on my front bumper. we traded information.

I got an estimate from a couple body shops saying 500+ but my friend offered to get it done for 400. so i called this guy asking for 400 and he doesn't believe it will cost that much.

Over the past month I've been calling him a lot and he has been ignoring all my calls.
When I finally got a hold of him a month later, we set up a time to go to shops to get estimates to prove the damage is $500 worth. We planned to meet up yesterday but he flaked and he said he would call me today. He didn't call and hes still ignoring all my calls.

i just called him with a friends phone and he answered but when i started talking he just turned up his music very loud and put the phone next to the speakers.

up to this point i am very frustrated with his inability to cooperate and i would like to know what i should do next. report it to the DMV? report it to my insurance and be forced to pay it all myself? (deductible)

suggestions on what to do please? thank you CL community

I would just report it to insurance and find the most expensive shop to get the work done correctly. Or since you are from the bay take it up to TNT in sacramento if you can, heard countless great things from the norcal community.

Take him to small claims court. It is very easy to do (I did it in a similar situation several years ago).

You've wasted a whole bunch of time dealing with this azz/flake, you have insurance why not let them do what you pay 'em for? Hopefully you have the information to turn over to your insurance, DL and insurance information.

I agree. Hopefully you got a witness statement or two also.

Kudos for trying to work with this person to keep the cost down. Sometimes doing the right thing doesn't work out though.

you should get his in insurance and report to his insurance not your, and they will deal with him but u take any pics for proof? try call him again, and say if he is not paying then you will report to CID "criminal investigation division" not "Clinical Infectious Diseasesand" and give them his DL and photo if you got any, let them deal with him, and it wont be $500. if he end up paying you, dont get check, only cash.

I would have just reported it to insurance from day 1, and let them handle it. You won't pay the deduct since you aren't at fault. His INS company will. Take it to a reputable body shop and tell them do it right no matter what the cost since INS will be paying. You shouldn't have to pay a dime.

Not worth the time and aggrivation chasing people around who are gonna argue over how much it costs to fix something.
