It's a new revised long block. With upgraded rings and probably pistons. Maybe even revised bearings also.

Also check your compression rod bushings. Those crap are prone to cracking and Nissan has already issued a "revised' compression rod to prevent such "cracks" from recurring.

Also at 70k, the sparkplug gaskets are known to go bad. and Oil will start to pool around the plugs. Have that checked also.

How much was the extended warranty? My warranty is up in October. Is it too late for me to purchase an extended warranty?

i think it's cheaper to buy one when you buy the car but as far as I know you can buy an extended warranty at any time, it just might be more expensive. I paid about $3000 for a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. It covers everything including electronics, except for normal wear and tear. BTW just found out most warranty companies consider anything with your exhaust system to be "wear and tear items", which is bull****. There were cheaper options but i plan on keeping the car for a while so I went with the 3 year.

it depends on how much he drives a year really, it would be different if he drove 20k on the same oil with frequent 1 quart fill ups

Yeah, forget the stupid 3k or every 3month crap... You think the dealership changes oil on all the cars sitting on the lot every 3 months? LOL
