Unless OP got a super secret hook up on an advance 3G iPad, is he going to have to drive up to a Starbucks to get on the internet? Is he going to read an e-book when he's driving?

 

No, he said he tethered his iphone to his ipad so he gets internet all the time. Pretty sweet setup imo.

OTOH, props to the OP for having a unique set up. Personally I can't see myself buying an iPad since I already have a MacBook Pro and iPhone 3GS.

When they have university-level textbooks available for the e-reader, will I seriously consider bringing in an iPad to my Apple family.

 

sorry but only good use of ipad in car would be to replace the radio.... some stereo shop did it on a toyo tacoma looked sick... but thats REPLACING the radio... not on top of it.

I think its a cool idea but I question the mounting. I am pretty sure I could whip a sharp turn and send that thing flying off my dash... but then maybe I just drive a little harder than some.

 

if you get that actually mounted then it would be cool

being a former hater of apple because it was so mainstream i had a toshiba music player a few yrs ago and there was no market for it. i switched to apple and whola!!! everything for it!!! apple makes great products that last. i buy apple because of its market and because its practical and syncs with everything. the iphone is great and the keyboard is blaziing fast...granted the brought out the os4 which ruined my iphone because the ne os is made for the fast iphone4 processor. but having windows i F****** hate windows!!!! i am switching to mac. windows sucks. windows phones suck. xbox build quality sucks...microsoft as a compay... sucks!!

this isnt a DIY!!!! its velcro on the back thats not anything a 10 yr old couldnt do!!! but for OP if it works for you then good **** but i dont see many doing this. i like my pop up nav haha
id recommend double din for you with a 7 inch screen

 

if it was mounted like this it would be really nice.Like this guy has it mounted but instead of velcro with some sort of custom dash kit like this one.

Reason why is cause your car would get broken into so fast. Then there goes your ipad and one or two or your windows and whatever else the person decides to steal.
