If I have my vin #, can I track where it is online somewhere?

No. The lady at the dealer said she found me another car and she gave me the VIN# and that it would arrive at the dealer on the 14th (Monday). I don't believe it until I see it, if you know what I mean.

you cant track it, when you get your VIN# from infiniti, it just means it has rolled out the factory and is on the boat heading for the States....
The reason they gave you the VIN# is so that you can go Insurance shopping and get everything ready so that when the car arrives you just have to sign a few papers and be out of their within a 1/2 hour.

yeah don't believe the dealers until they say it's here and you can come pick it up anytime.

especially when they say something like your car will be here towards the end of the week, they most likely don't know where your car is or when it will come.

I wish there was something like that. Like infiniti tracking system something like UPS or FedEx, but to bad there is no such thing.

When it gets closer to time (from what you've said, now until the 14th), go to infiniti's web site, look under g35 coupe, use their search form for a car with your options. It should show you a dealerships nearest your zip code...one of them should be the dealer that you ordered from. Click on them and look in their inventory.

The cars posted there should have a VIN#. If you see your VIN# in the search results, it should be only a couple of days until you get the call. I'd search only once a day. Any more than that would be depressing. Plus, they don't update their inventory that often, anyway.

BMW has something like that. My boss ordered his X5 with some custom options including a stick. So they have him a website link and he was able to actually watch it's progress. They even had webcams in some areas of the factory for him to check the progress! Peace.

Actually, when my VIN# showed up on Infiniti's website, I got a rather confused look on my face... it was about a week after I took delivery.

Are you saying that it didn't show up until after you took delivery, or that you just happened to check a week after delivery and it was still there?

Mine was still in the inventory after I took delivery too. Their inventory just needed to be updated, that's all.

Good point.. I'm not sure when it showed up initially. Apparently, the mechanism where Infiniti corporate finds out which cars are sold and updates the website isn't exactly speedy.
