Louder stock note?
Louder stock note?
I am trying to achieve a louder stock note. I really love the stock sound of the exhaust, just want it louder!!
What would the best route be?
I am supercharged with FI HFC's, 1/2" spacer, and Mrev2. Everything else is stock. Also, keep in mind I need some back pressure... And some more power would be great of course. Just hit me with ideas/advice.
Thanks in advanced!

Yes but doesn't this eliminate the stock note? I assume the best way to go about doing this would be to custom replicate the stock piping, just increase it to 3" I am just scared of losing my back pressure.
Has anyone done this before? How much did it cost and where did you get it done?

I would probably say nismo is the closest, if you made something custom I think it would be hard to make sure you are going to get the same tone... maybe the motordyne ART pipes (I think that's the right name) would help... And if you are supercharged I don't think you really have to worry about losing your back pressure unless you go to some extreme size piping
People have used the flowmaster muffler to amplify the stock note.
I have no idea how it affects you since you're SC

With the great choice of mods you have I don't believe you have any other choice but to get a true-dual cat back system. Stillen makes a system that is made very well with it's crossovers and straight thru mufflers. I would think you'd pick up some major HP with his cat-back dual exhaust, and it wouldn't be that loud. We all need back pressure, that's why members that have test pipes, headers and a high flow exhaust fail....

IMHO the HKS exhaust system has a Similar sound to the stock sound of the VQ, just with the volume turned up a little bit. Personally, I loved the sound of the VQ and was hesitant to put an exhaust system on my G but I am very happy with how my system turned out. For reference I have Labree resonated test pipes and the HKS hi power exhaust system.
Guys, stop suggesting other exhaust systems. If the resonator from the stocker is replaced (which obviously would) the exhaust note will sound entirely different. He wants the same sound. If I was FI I'd get a much more less-restrictive exhaust setup but I would think testpipes or HFC's would generally do the trick. That's what I'm considering but I'm running factory.
Don't get TP, you'll rasp
Get some HFC and you will keep the stock exhaust tone but be louder. Sometimes it will get a little deeper too, but mostly just louder.
ANother options is to gut the 2nd half of your cats. Stock cats have 2 catalyst sections. Gutting the downstream section will give you some volume (helped a friend do it to his). Sounds good but HFC are the way to go.

He already has FI HFCs according to his post. Even though I don't have an aftermarket system on my G, the FI Intimidator is the closest to the stock sound, just deeper and a little louder, from what I've heard on friends' cars.
