Question to all my maual drivers on here

On my way to work today I got on the parkway a little too late and decided to stay in second til I could coast. Once I hit about 60ish I shifted up to 6th gear. I know I'm not suppose to do that but I heard it's not the end of the world if I do. The gears connected fine and the car took it, no strange noises or jerks however,

Smoke started pouring out of my shifter. I never had a problem with my car before. I replaced the clutch and fly wheel, so they are almost new, I have a full HKS exhaust.

I was just wondering if anybody has experienced anything like that on thier G?

oh yea, forgot to mention that mine is an '03.

Umm..as long as you push the clutch in there's should be no harm in going from 2nd to 6th regardless of speed...if smoke started pouring out you have some other issues to worry about. May want to get it checked out. But from what I understand the early G's had issues with the manual tranny's. Maybe look in a junk yard for an 06 or 07 tranny?
