Weird "banging" noise coming from rear passenger side when going over bumps

I currently have placed my new 19" aftermarket wheels on and I noticed that when i go over certain dips/bumps I hear a loud banging/scraping noise that comes from the rear passenger side. My car isn't lowered either. Also, if i go over some bumps ie.train tracks at high/low speeds the noise disappears.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this since i cringe everytime i go over a bump and wait for that sound. I would like to get some insight before I go to the stealership!! Thanks in advance guys.

could be fenders rubbing on your tires. even if you aren't lowered, if you go over a huge bump it can still hit. Are your wheels very aggressive?

Is it possible that your girlfriend is tied up in the trunk?

My wheels are aggressive but not out of the ordinary from other G's out there...front 245/35/19 and the rear 275/35/19

I also don't think its the rubbing since its only happening on one side (rear passenger side)...unless something else is wrong in in that area...my uncle who is a mechanic says it could be hitting the the pipe that leads to the gas....not sure what that is called exactly.

Have you checked the bushings in the differential? Check for a black streak on the differential cover.

i think that's more of a thump than a scraping/banging sound

I am having the same problem as well. I keep getting these weird noisy banging noises going over bumps in the back right corner. I recently changed my tires from winter back to my summers and noticed that one of my lug nuts fell out and the others were loose! I torqued them to spec and all the other tires were fine so I thought the noise was related to a loose tire. But now that I have the summers on, and double checked the torque, it's making the same noise... Any help???

going to wait to get it checked out at the dealership soon...is it more of a scraping noise too? mine sounds like a scraping noise depending on how fast or how big the bump/dip is...also no sound is made going over speed bumps or train tracks

For the scraping noise, did you to check to see if any of the plastic **** underneath the car or fender linings were loose?
