Ignition Sounds Labored
Ignition Sounds Labored
I've noticed my 07 coupe makes a rather long start up noise. It coughs 5 times then vrooms like I'd expect, and the coughs increase in pitch (presumably as the engine starts spinning faster). I've only put about 500 miles on the car since I bought it at 25k miles. I'm idling around 600 or 700 rpms. I will check the oil tomorrow, but should the car start up a little smoother than this?
The stock batteries in these cars are pretty pathetic. I've managed to get 6+ years out of my stock one, but only because I remove it in the winter and store the car, with the battery on the shelf in a warm room... and charge it weekly. It sounds pretty weak now though and I have a feeling I'm going to have to replace it this summer.. probably with an Optima redtop.
If the battery is the likely culprit, I'll probably just wait till the 30k mile service and ask the techs to check it out. Should still be under warranty, so I'll make them hook me up. Thanks Partyman.

Gary, thats a good call. Those red-tops look great. I'll probably do this when I install my PA15-NIS in a week or so.
Thanks guys for the info.

i think i may have a similar problem 9 times out of 10 it starts within 3 spins but then sometimes it takes forever. And also very rarely sitting at an idle the car drop to like 200 rpm wtf 44000 miles on my 06
