need help (urgent, need to know by tomorrow)

first off dont flame or start any kinda crap im looking for serious help
if your not gonna post something helpful then dont waste the time posting in this thread, because i know alot of you guys dont have the same taste as me

so be cool about it

alright i ordered some wheels from a company just to do me until i get out of college till i can afford to drop more money on a nice set of wheels like some volks or work

heres whats up, I dont like hella flush wheels i think it looks odd, and i dont like wheels bigger than 18"
my car has 20's on it right now and it makes me feel like some wannabe rapper

the company i ordered from dosent let me pick the offsets for the wheels. you enter your car and they pick "safe" offsets for you

i just got the invoice today and it shows detailed info for the exact wheels
heres what they are sending me

18x8 20mm fronts
18x9 38mm rears (my first reaction was holy **** why)

yes i know the wheels are skinny for G's but i dont track my car its a daily driver and my most spirited driving would be cruising around the lake or something along those lines

my question is this, the front offsets seem like they would be alright, i want my wheels inside the fenders
but on the rears im obviously gonna have to go with at LEAST a 15mm spacer to match up and give a slightly wider rear end

im wondering if i should refuse the shipment and avoid 25% restocking fee's

or if i throw some 15mm spacers in the rear to put me at
18x9 23mm if the wheels will look for the most part equal giving a little bit wider rear stance

let me emphasis i want to keep my wheels inside my fenders because i live in kentucky and theres crap all over our roads that will be slung on the sides of a car with hella flush wheels
but have a slightly more aggressive appearance than stock wheels

will this put me where I want to be

I say just do the spacers, if you don't track your car or do any crazy driving just throw the spacers on there and call it a day. If you refuse shipment they might still charge you the restocking fee and it will just take much longer time, just order the spacers now and they should get there the within a couple of days.

Thanks for the post david.
I am worried about refusing shipment and having to argue them to get a full refund, so i was contemplating the situation.

Im still going to call them in the morning to ask why they sent me a 38mm offset rear wheel, they may offer to exchange it possibly.

I say refuse and get some wheels with proper offsets and yes those wheels are skinny

If you don't mind me asking how much did they run you?
I'm asking so I can see if i can possibly find you something comparable in price
with a proper offset for the G35 in 18's

I plan to buy different wheels within the next 2 years as i graduate from college in 2 weeks, so once I make some real money i'll look at more serious wheels.
im just looking to replace the curbed wheels with chipping paint that are on it right now.
(all 4 wheels are curbed, and paint is chipping on all 4 also)

i paid $1100 for wheels and tires, I didnt go with serious tires I had nankangs on a previous car for 2 years and went with them again for this.

thanks for helping Glex

$1100 hmmm that's a tight field

www.wheeldude.com has a nice selection of wheels

but with tires that is a hard price to beat
if you really that tight just use spacers i even looked on tire rack and their offsets are in the mid 30's for the Asa's

thanks Glex for trying to look out for me

yea the 1100 budget is VERY tight, i just want to get the curbed, chipped 20's off

I'm feeling more like throwing a 15mm spacer on the rear.
I just want a slightly more aggressive stance than a stock 18" wheel that my car had from the factory.

I do really like the wheels i have ordered and this will only be to hold me over for 1-2 years so I think this might be my best solution

I guess it's a little late at this point, but I would have just gone with some used OEM 18's or 19's from the marketplace if you were going to upgrade in the future. They'd be well under 1k with tires and you could powdercoat them if want a more aftermarket look.

Anyway, hope your problem gets resolved by the vendor.

I say get the spacers. You obviously like the wheels if you bought them so why not just get the spacers to hold you over for the two years until you can get new rims.

the 18's will be delivered tomorrow. ive decided im gonna try to make them work instead of fighting to get a refund, ive called the wheel company and they without a doubt will charge me restocking fee's

if i can put 15 or 20mm spacers on the rear it should make the rear tires stick out a little wider and ill call it a day

Lucid,

I understand what your going through....

Im a college student about to be 5th yr too....

But what you say contradicts yourself. First you say you dont like wheels past the fenders and then you say you want works/volk in the future? Most of those setups are flush if not a little poke man in order to look decent....

Look at my f/s thread......i got work t1s's for sale.....alot out of your price range.....but im going with a super aggressive setup for my next wheels.....it is possible here in kentucky, you just got to have the ***** to do it and i know you can

Anways good luck with your new wheels and just put some spacers on....I would have refinished the 20's which would have been cheaper prob...or like previous posts, used rays

I have 18x8 +20 offset front and 18x9.5 +20 offset rear. The front is like stock. The rear is almost flush. Sticks out about 5mm. with 275/18-40 tires. I ordered +40 offset for the rear, but they sent +20 instead. I didn't notice until after the tires were mounted. Too late. I'm glad for the mistake. +40 offset in the rear would have looked like stock on the outside. I really like this offset calculator: http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp
