OK. I got it. I can't believe any one hasn't tried something like this. It is an air duct with 2 holes. It's not that I can't afford it. I just spent 3k on tires and wheels. I was just trying to save a few bucks. With all the negative comments and not one positive, I'm done with this forum. I've seen too many negatives here. A guy just wants an opinion on something and gets bashed.

You even said that it's not recommended and all that. We're not bashing your decision to try and make something work better for your car, we're bashing your stupidity for trying something you yourself knew was stupid.

Stock is always better than a hacked d.i.y. mod

The hole you taped closed is downstream of the mass air flow sensor, therefore if it leaked you engine would instantly shut down(not get sucked in) due to the lack of air flow across the mass air flow sensor (I forget the exact code). My resonator actually cracked and started leaking from rough handling and the above happened. I machined a plug out of aluminum and polished it to seal the hole(which I replaced with the factory part). My air intake temperatures were actually slightly lower without the resonator. I'm guessing the duct tape would not stand the temperatures Throw the duct tape in the garbage or use it to seal cardboard boxes or something. I wouldn't be caught dead using duct tape on my lawn mower.

This is one of the nicer car forums. Post this over at my350z and see how you make out. That being said, people just don't want you to hack up your car with cheap mods and corner cutting, we all love these cars, and we all want to see them done up right.

G35nyc is even worse.. They ripped me a new one for using Mothers wax instead of the one recommended by the forum sponsors. And that the photos I showed were "doctored" to make it look glossier than it is possible with a car wax.

LOL

You can't afford an $80 dollar used part? Wow. Hope you don't need any service soon...
