Q about my wacky car stereo
Q about my wacky car stereo
I've got a 2003 Infinity G35 with the factory Bose system. About a year after buying it, the CD player got wonky, so I took it in and they either fiddled with it or replaced it. Dunno if they had to replace or remove the whole stereo or not.
OK now several years later, the stereo has developed a strange problem. This happens no matter what I'm listening to (radio, cd, etc).
1. I turn on the car.
2. I turn on the stereo.
3. Stereo plays for a short time, then the sound dies. CD player still plays on, as if there were no problems.
4. After a short time, less than a minute, I hear a weird sound, akin to a vacuum tube warming up in a sci-fi movie and then the stereo sound comes back.
It reminds me of a capacitor or something that needs to charge up.
Question: is this a stereo problem, or a wiring problem? Did the service guys swap my speaker wires around or something?
It does seem to be getting worse. When I mentioned this to the service guys the last time I was in, they mumbled something about other people mentioning this, but offered no solution. Once the stereo "warms up", it works fine for the duration of my drive/trip/whatever.
Thanks for your thoughts!

Thats very strange. I have heard of CD players not working or sound going in and out when hitting bumps but I've never heard of what you're talking about. It could possibly be a loose connection to your head unit or somewhere in the trunk on your Bose Amp. I hated the stock stereo anyways so I replaced it with a double din before I had to deal with anything. If you got the money, I would definitely go double din. Hopefully someone else on the forum has had the same issue as you and can help you out.
Thanks iceguju. I'm hoping someone can give me some pointers on this!
I should have probably added that my car is a 2003 G35 Coupe and I bought it with the best stereo/nav package they offered.
