I'm not intending for this thread to technically be blown toward G35's, or any particular member on this board for any particular reason. I do believe I've seen one G35 here that they looked decent on...besides that, it looks terribly cheesy and extremely out of place.

Judging by some of the comments left on these picture threads, such as:

"Gross"

"Gay"

"Those aren't looking good"

...And other beautifully critical gestures, I think it's time to address that perhaps we've gone too far. Maybe a little less is needed? Like, don't cover the ENTIRE plastic insert under the headlights? Or perhaps, just perhaps, we shouldn't use these light strips at all...

Maybe we should leave it to these German pros at Audi and Mercedes who seem to be enjoying them on their factory cars. But factory is the key word there, isn't it?

...It becomes a little less special, which is the opposite of what every aftermarket modification should be. Something to distinguish your car from all of the others, or maybe enhance something that wasn't present from the factory.

This has just been bothering me...I made a post to make my point, if you agree with me or not, feel free to rant with me.

I agree with you Matt. It was cool when it first came out, but now its played out. I see old corollas with them, and any other POS can get them.

 

Some look clean. Most look out of place. Fine line between the two.

 

I agree that the strips in the headlights or strips in the grill look EXTREMELY cheesy, but I think you can make them look clean. I just did mine last week and I'm very happy with it, it looks clean and very classy (my personal opinion, of course)

Only place there should be LEDs is IN the clearance strip. Not under, next to or around but In the clearance strip. That is just my taste though

yeah, not rocking the bumper led's anymore... just the clearance strip now.

They look good on the R8, everything else, pretty much GHEY!

 

I actually do like them on the Audis and on the MB E-class and S-class, but again...that is factory. It just doesn't look right when you stick them on there.

 

Maybe if they were green, blue, red...and blinked!!! But, only around Christmas time.
Otherwise toooo ricey for my taste!!!!

 

These look okay. Any more than that, not a fan -- seems a little wannabe, and if I wanted an Audi, I'd drive an Audi.

 

some can look good as long as they're not too long. I've seen ppl on the streets with blue led strips and they look horrid in blue and ricey
