exhaust configuration options???

I just got test pipes and was going to run them on the stock exhaust system and maybe swap out the muffler to flowmasters. What flowmasters should I get? After reading up that most of the restriction is in the cats i figure this might work pretty decently. Im still undecided at the 1200+ cost of the systems that are around.

Also what are xyz pipes? I dont get what they do. Sorry about the noob questions. But Id like to decide if im going to get a system or just put on flowmasters by tomorrow.

From Motordyne's website:

The Motordyne XYZ pipe - A super merge collector with multiple applications on Motordyne exhaust systems.

Made of the highest quality components and craftsmanship, it is a design optimized on the dyno. The XYZ is more than just a Y-pipe. It is a modular exhaust part with many applications.

Its a X pipe. Its a Y pipe. Its a Z pipe. It is the starting point of a fully variable exhaust system with many different configurations and applications. Naturally aspirated or for Forced Induction, the XYZ pipe can be used to build single, dual or True Dual X pipe exhaust systems.
