I know that, hence the "Not speaking of our cars.." part of the comment.

Moving on...

The manual clearly states that a lower grade other than Premium may be used TEMPORARILY if premium is not available. (only fill enough to get by).

BUT you must not drive ABRUPTLY or (FLOOR the gas). And replace it with PREMIUM fuel Immediately.

It is ok to use regular fuel on Sedans with Automatic. Sedan with the 6 speed and all coupe models should use Premium.

where you say dont use 89 octane and floor it, then after you say if you have 89 octane in dont imead. fill up with 91? so what should i do? should i let the gas light show on with the 89 octane then refill up with 91 so it doesnt mix up gas as much?

i hope your G craps out on you for being a dumb cheapazz. you are supposed to throw the highest octane in it 93. not 91 higher cause guess what...all that extra 89 a tanker has gets dumped in the 91 octane tank. so use the highest octane that being 93. on our engines 89 kills it dumbfuuuuuck

-191070160816086108 to you, the VQ engines we have have been one of the top 10 engines for a good 4 or 5 yrs now. only engines i know of around our price range thatd beat it would have to be the e46 M engines. the boxer engine and the mivecs should be thrown in there too

Thank you for that, I automatically thought that it was at least ten years.
We have many new members on here that are a different class of customers, some are not as well read or knowledgeable as the rest.
It's a great engine in a not so expensive car.

Lol at octane boosters. There all full of crap. One show(think it was top gear) tested out MOST off the shelf octane boosters, and they all DECREASED the hp by 3. NONE of them added hp just decreased.....thats sad.

Ever since i have had the car i have put in 87 and never ever had a knock. With knock sensors and computer reprogramming it shouldn't. Like everyone else i get around 21 mpg with normal driving, so i don't believe there is any added benefit in fuel economy. I cant speak of the performance difference with premium since i haven't had any in the car, but i don't doubt there is a difference. Has anyone else tried this? and don't call me a dumbazz or anything dumb because i have done research, and besides the slightly effected performance, it is perfectly acceptable to use "crap" fuel.

^ Not when the manual says it can only be "temporarily used' and that you should immediately replace it with Premium fuel.

But it's your car. Can you post a video of your engine running? Maybe you know something Infiniti doesn't...

FYI 93 octane is not widely available on the west coast. All we have is 91 and maybe 1 or 2 gas stations in a major city will have 93 or 100 for the track.
