I just got a call from my dealer (currently I am waiting on a black/black 6MT - Loaded, no Aero). He said he found a black/black 6MT loaded, but with the Aero package. Well, I really dislike the rear spoiler, and was wondering if I were to take this car...if the spoiler could be removed without having to replace anything (ie - hood, etc...)



It takes 90% of the population to make the other 10% of us shine.

 

I believe it would leave you with holes in the trunk lid that would need to be filled.

Yes...there would be holes in the trunk...which would mean you'd have to buy a new trunk...which I'm sure is probably on back order. Have you seen a pic of the black w/ the spoiler...? I personally dislike the spoilers on the coupe in general...but think they look sweet on the black and the red...

 

I know that everyone has a right to their own opinions, but I think that the spoiler is what makes the car. I think it's actually looks bad without it.

Hey, I just got my black/black 6MT Friday and they installed the spoiler before I picked it up. Trust me, that spoiler looks great on both the Coupe and Sedan. You are being overruled by the majority and we are insisting you get it! :-)

Also, after you get rid of the spoiler, you'll be missing a third brake light. You'll have to get that installed as well, if you want it, need it, or if required by law (is this required?).

Like is said. They (Dealership) Will remove it for you if you dont want it. The will fill the holes for you too, unless they are tighta$$es. You dont need to BUY a new trunk lid

 

another option is you can simply get your dealer to swap the trunk of the car you want with any other black coupe. my dealer was willing to do that for me but then the next day we found the exact vehicle i want.

and there is also this underbody kit that comes with the aero package, and you can simply take it off and put it on another coupe.

For the sake of balance, I wholeheartedly agree with your dislike of the spoiler. The G is one of those cars that is sculpted to look better without it. Anyway, as others have said, there will be holes to fill in the trunk and they'll have to wire up a new 3rd brake light, but at least you'll have the advantage of the underbody stuff.

As an aside, I really wish car companies would stop packaging spoilers with sports suspensions and other performance packages. A spoiler's impact on styling is far greater than its impact on performance with regard to most automobiles. The G was better than most about keeping it separate.

I went through the same conversation with my dealer, and they said that they could simply replace the trunk. I assumed I was going to get the rear underbody defusers for free, but someone else cancelled their order. This guy wanted a spoiler, and I didn't. So the swapped the cars, and everyone is happy. I am getting my car tomorrow!

P.S. One dealer said that you have to get the aero package if you get the stick. I told him to go screw himself even though I didn't getting a stick (I didn't care if I got a stick or an auto, just wanted to get one as soon as possible).

give me the spoiler. IMO the car looks alot more sportier with it. some car should have the spoilier and some shouldn't the G35 with 18's really should have it.

 

It really is in the eye of the beholder - my 6MT has 18s and no aero pkg. I specifically didn't want the aero pkg because I think the car looks more refined without it; there were 2 6MTs that had it when I bought mine, so I could have gotten a spoiler if I'd wanted.

It's all in what you want, I suppose. Some people seem to love the aero pkg.
