Re: 0-60 times for G35 COUPE
Shouldn't be more than .4 sec or so. 5AT loses power through both the torque converter and the slower shifting transmission, but unless you're a damn good driver you probably won't really experience much of a difference.
Basically, I'd say don't go to a manual solely for the performance - stick is for people who will enjoy driving a stick.

depends, with PERFECT conditions an auto is just as fast as a manual- i've seen a auto mustang GT tie a manual GT (both 13.7, stock), plus look at LS1s....

Something I don't understand is why different magazines have such a big disparity in their 0-60 times. For example, Motor Trend managed to pull a 5.83, which is very close to Infiniti's number of 5.8. Automobile, however, only got a 6.0. Road & Track got a 6.1. Those are pretty big differences, esp. considering that the test drivers for all magazines should be pretty experienced. Anyone know why this is?

Re: 0-60 times for G35 COUPE
ya I heard that in american cars it doesn' matter if it's auto or manual, they both put out the same power. Is that true?
I know in Cruisin California the cars have about 10 more hp if you play it in manual

Please do not read this if you are female.
Here is an experiment to find out why the times are different.
1. You drive it and time it from zero to sixty.
2. Have your wife drive it from zero to sixty.
3. Compare times.
4. If your wife’s time is faster than yours, please sell you car and ride your bike. You don’t deserve a G
5. If your time is the fastest, keep your mouth shut or you may not get dinner for several weeks and the couch will give you a back ach.
Any questions? Got Milk?
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's very close but I still think unless the tranny is an SMG or is built by porsche that the 6MT will still be a little faster. The reason being that with a AT even the adaptive type, the shift points are pre-programmed. With a manual tranny the shift points are made by the driver and there is not as much power loss because there is no torque converter. So this is my opinion but I think it'll still be faster. But for most mere mortals probably nothing noticeable. I wish I would have drove the 5AT first because I drive everyday in traffic and sometimes having the 6MT is a b!tch. I bought though cuz' I figured it would be faster. To each his own though there all still G35 coupes which means I LOVE THEM!

Those of you saying that auto should be as fast - sorry to let you down, but it's not. The only way the auto could be as fast or faster is if it was better geared (as is the case for the LS1 for example). But even if you ignored the fact that the shift points are preprogrammed and shifts are slower in an auto, the torque converter alone robs enough power to make a difference in accel times.
It's not a huge difference, and many drivers less experienced on a stick may not even notice a difference, but there definitely is one.
