There's a big difference between reading whats on a spec sheet and racing in real life. Your car is heavier and its an automatic. I think he's gonna win.

What kind of "chip" do you have...?

@OP:

The WRX is lighter than the STI.

The STI is heavier due to additional reinforcement and performance equipment. I mean, it does have 3 LSD's vs the G35's... none. Stock VLSD (on sport package) doesn't count.

A bolt-on/tune 08+ wrx will be putting down close to 300awhp vs the ~280whp of a bolt-on/tuned VQ35DE. Combine the lighter weight and equal drivers, and you can see what happens. Anything can happen on the street of course Then again, if straightline performance is what really matters to you, then you should probably trade in your G for a 2010 Mustang GT.

The cars are made for different audiences.

Have you looked at how much a EvoX weighs? What about the "fat" MKIV Supra?

Oh, and my NA 4 banger daily will keep up with your VQ, unless you're FI.

I own and drive both. My 06WRX is a DD.

Overall there's no question in my mind that I prefer the way my G drives, rides, handles and looks but the WRX is certainly faster off the line and perhaps through 60mph. At that point though I'd say it begins to lose to the G that has built up it's momentum much more powerfully.
I like the AWD stability and the WRX's manuverability. I've owned and self-maintained my subies for a long time and they have all been super-reliable.

I guess I just see them as having different personalities and strengths. If I could only have one though, the WRX wins because of the AWD...but I'll never give up my G.

I had an 06 STi with Stage 2 on it. It would kick the snot out of my G35 in a race any day. Much easier to make power on it. I really missed the power drop when I changed to my G.

However, I found the G to be a nicer vehicle as far as looks, interior and ride quality.

the new wrx is clean looking.

my co worker has one dropped on coils, sitting semi flush along with lower offset wheels and his ride looks hella clean.

Yeah SxExCxs' grounding kit is pretty popular around here. I was thinking about making my own tho, its cheaper that way.
