proper oil change interval??

dealer tells me... "dont change oil until 3750... and do not change over to synthetics til 10k. or it could void your warranty if anything goes wrong with the motor, including oil consumption"

is it just me, or does this sound wrong... any ideas, suggestions, recommendations???

I own German performance cars... I just bought a G35... I like the G35... thank you...bye now.

Re: proper oil change interval??

I switched to synthetic at 3K and my engine has been running like brand new for 2 years with 23K on it. so... no issues there

Thanks - Joey Avino

The second half sounds like B.S. to me! I understand the break-in period not changing oil, but no syn. till 10k. BULL$HIT!

Isn't Infiniti going over to all syn. oil?

I've heard from several sources that the VQ engine continues to break-in until well after 10K miles. I waited until about then to switch to synthetic to be safe. Many have changed earlier with no issues.

"Don't change oil until 3,750"

Why would you want to keep the break-in oil around that long? When I changed the factory fill out at ~ 600 miles, it was dark, dark, DARK.

only because thats what the dealer is telling me... and threatening with the "void warranty, even if oil consumption happens".

Re: proper oil change interval??

The dealer gave me the same BS but I changed the factory fill at 1200 anyway. They are right about the second part though, as the VQ is known to take a while to break in. Your car will not explode if you do change to synth early though...
