I know it was a good possibility when had an AEM V2 in my S2k because the filter was so low in the bumper. The filter was also angled up so water could collect in the elbow and there have been cases of hydro lock. I'm still learning about the G so I can't help you there but in the S, it was possible.

If you inner fender linings are there then the filter will not get soaked. All you have to worry about is deep puddles and heat soak.

Ingesting that much water into your intake is possible if the filter sits very low which might result in hydro lock. Filter company's have bags that fit over the filters to keep this from happening, do they work....doono. To me it's not worth have the intake filter sitting in harms way, for what purpose? Intakes where the filter sits close to the OE position won't have water issues unless you're in a flood up over the fenders!

all you need to do is add a bypass into the tubing and you won't not be able to intake any water.>>> http://www.aemintakes.com/air_bypass_valve.htm

The bypass valve is just a stupid filter. So your basically taking in a bit of warm air if you have that installed.

The OEM intake is already a cold air intake. So leave it alone. Why would you want to install a long azz pipe anyways. Shorter intake = shorter distance for the air to travel.
